Family Environment Housing

Welcoming stay. We only stopped overnight between transfers to/from the airport so didn't see the area but great value for money and helpful staff. We'll be returning before we leave and making sure we have breakfast!

Life Builders is a Christian mission in Guatemala City that rents out rooms to fund its program to support widows and orphans. We chose the accommodation because of its proximity to the airport and because they offer secure parking. We were warmly welcomed and there is a family atmosphere. The shared rooms and their facilities are good and the view from the terrace is very nice.

Our bedroom was very small but it served the purpose.

I did not get to stay here, despite a confirmed booked. I had to cancel at the request of the hostel, but they have failed to approve my cancellation. In the end I found a great place on AirBnB. They would have got a 5/10 if they had approved my cancellation as they promised.

We stayed there a night after landing in Guatemala. Super nice ppl, good hospitable ambiance, nice breakfast. Everyone was very helpful, the price was quite decent and knowing the money is used to help the community is a great bonus.

Unfortunately I was messaged the night before my stay that there was not room for me. I was planning on staying and then leaving very early the following morning for a flight. Given that I had the room booked for a week in advance and then chose to cancel the night before shows me that although I booked an open vacancy at the time of booking something changed and they did not plan for me or accommodate my reservation- i find it likely that they extended someobody elses reservation and canceled mine. For that reason I have no choice but to leave a negative rating. If you book someone in and then cancel the night before their arrival you are not operating at a level that is satisfactory and it is absolutely worthy of a negative review so that others know that this is a possibility. Had they canceled up to 2 days before or more I would find that to be inconvenient but not worth writing a bad review over.
