Berggasthaus First - Only Accessible by Cable Car

Everything was wonderful. What could be better than having Grindelwald First almost entirely to yourself after the last cable car had gone down? It felt like the whole mountain belonged exclusively to the hotel guests. We were able to walk along the Cliff Walk in complete peace, without any crowds. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, the accommodation was excellent, and the room was comfortable. The shared bathroom facilities were more than adequate and always clean. Above all, being able to fully immerse yourself in the breathtaking views of the Eiger and Wetterhorn was truly special. The atmosphere was peaceful, relaxing, and incredibly happy.

Fantastisk beliggenhet. Utrolig å kunne være der når alle dagsbesøkende er reist ned med gondolen.

Rommet var ikke klargjort da vi fikk rommet. To av sengene var ikke oppredd. De skulle ordne det, men glemte det. Maten var litt skuffende. Vi bestilte en 3 dager retters meny.. forretten var noen salatblad med balsamicosaus. Desserten skulle være en banansplitt, men de var fri for banan, så det ble en smeltet isklump med et lite kakestykke. Frokostsalen var full av fluer som satte seg på maten. Utvalget var begrenset, men vi ble mett. Uansett. Betjeningen var i alle fall hyggelige!

Es war sehr sauber und die Aussicht war toll

Dass verlangt wird, dass ich als Schweizer englisch reden muss, geht gar nicht. Wenn bar bezahlt wird, ist das Personal mit Schweizer Währung überfordert. Leider kamen wir uns vor wie Fremde im eigenen Land. Ich denke, englischsprachige fühlen sich da wohler.

Spending the night on Grindelwald Mountain is a truly invaluable experience. The views are breathtaking, and the accommodation is reasonably priced considering the views you get. Staying here allowed us to skip the queues for photos at Cliff Walk Peak, giving us more time for evening hikes.

The accommodation should have a communal kettle for guests, but I understand the safety concerns.
