Ardencote

The grounds, indoor and outdoor pools. Steam room. Breakfast was okay, but not 4 star.

No air-conditioning in bedrooms, especially in the block we were in. There was a small window but due to safety reasons would only open a little bit . We were given a fan, which helped and we ended up sleeping on top of duvet. It was the hottest weekend.

Grounds are lovely, staff were kind and friendly

I didn’t like that the images give the impression that guests can access the outdoor pool, but it actually costs extra to do so. Misleading. There are some ‘rough round the edges’ elements- carpet was really dirty in rooms, dead fly’s and wasps on window stills in restaurant

The hotel was beautiful, clean and spacious. Lots of facilities to use such as the pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc Breakfast was lovely and good quality ingredients used

Lovely spacious rooms, big grounds and plenty of things to take advantage of. The staff were very pleasant and helpful with most having broad smiles.

The bar area was clean if you didn't look up, everything above head height is in need of a deep clean, lots of dead spiders and flies stuck in and around copious amounts of spider webs all of different vintages so it shows it hasn't been touched in a while. The paintwork by the staff entrance to the bar needs attention. A little effort and it would have been great. Some of the bathroom fittings in our room needed a good clean (around the basin overflow was mouldy) or replacing, worn, rusty etc. Some things were a little tired I would say. Breakfast was underwhelming, some things are personal preference whilst others are just poor for instance there was only a choice of two yoghurts, the fruit selection was very limited if you wanted a healthy alternative, the pastry choices were limited too.The cooked items were not appealing, catering sausages are to be expected but disappointing considering the cost of the rooms. Fried eggs were hit and miss, mine was fine but my wife's had the tell take black bottom to the yolk, that brought back memories of field kitchen eggs In the army. I enjoyed the toast! I didn't have breakfast after the first day, a real shame and would be easily sorted with better quality ingredients. I have previously worked in hotels for 10 years.and appreciate the cost pressures but there is a step too far that goes beyond acceptable and just says 'cheap' maybe? I may be in the minority and everyone else loved it? Wasps terrorised people sitting outside and I think more wasp traps are required, I saw two that were full, maybe they are not regularly emptied?

Great hotel, friendly staff great spa facilities, very clean and tidy. Really enjoyed the stay. Quiet comfy cosy room.

The location of the hotel is lovely, as are the grounds. We didn't use the facilities but they looked good.

The hotel is very tired looking and our room was small. There was no air-conditioning and because of a wedding, we were unable to open our bedroom window. The heat became unbearable, resulting in a poor night's sleep. Although it is probably priced to reflect the standard of the hotel, we wouldn't stay again.
