A luxurious, boutique hotel with only 6 rooms makes it feel like a very bespoke experience. The quality of the rooms, the fixtures, the shared facilities are all excellent. The staff can't do enough to help accommodate you and make the stay memorable. The location in Sayan is only about 15 mins into central Ubud and there are wonderful restaurants around. The staff helped advise a local walk through the rice paddy fields which we continued all the way to the Ridge Walk which was great. For dinner, try Nusantara tasting menu - it was awesome! It's 5* luxury with a very personal feel.

This hotel was EVERYTHING we hoped it would be and more! Gorgeous lush landscaping, the most aesthetically pleasing decor, and extremely attentive and friendly staff. It is situated just outside the hustle and bustle of Ubud, making it very quiet and serene. We would highly recommend staying at this property and would definitely stay here again in the future.

A Hidden Gem in Ubud - Exceptional Stay! I recently stayed at a Uma Kalai and it far exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and a level of attentiveness that made us feel immediately welcome. The villa itself was stunning—nestled in lush greenery, it offered incredible views of the surrounding rice terraces. The rooms were immaculately clean, with thoughtful touches like fresh flowers, luxurious linens, and a private plunge pool that became our favorite spot to unwind. Every detail had been considered, from the high-speed WiFi,sauna and toiletries provided. The on-site dining was another highlight. The chef prepared dishes that were some of the best meals we had during our trip. Breakfast was served on our private terrace, with fresh fruit, juices, and made-to-order dishes. What truly set this villa apart, though, was the level of service. The staff went above and beyond, the level of personalized care was out of this world. If you’re looking for a tranquil escape with world-class service, this villa in Ubud is an absolute must-visit. It’s a perfect blend of luxury, culture, and natural beauty—worth every penny!

THE BEST OF THE VERY BEST! From the breathtaking view to the incredibly attentive staff, Uma Kalai is the best property I’ve stayed, period. This is coming from a former 5-star hotel concierge and a 40-country world traveler. If you like large property where you get lost, this isn’t for you. However, if want a place with a breathtakingly beautiful view coupled with a staff that is always looking out for your every need—even needs that you don’t know you have, there isn’t a better property. Every aspect of this property is curated to make you feel special. With only six rooms and about 20 staff onsite, you will receive an unparalleled level of service that makes you feel, on the one hand, like you are a part of their family but, on the other hand, you are royalty pampered by impeccable tailored service. When I left this Uma Kalai for another large 5-star hotel after, I wanted to go back. This place is so amazing that I plan on going back for a whole month each year. The value here is unparalleled!

I came with high expectations (a 9.9 on Booking and five stars on Google says a lot!) and yet somehow, this place still managed to exceed them. When I think of a perfect hotel, Uma Kalai is now exactly the kind of place that comes to mind. Everything here is spot on. The staff is incredibly friendly. Many of them come from big-name hotels like Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton, but honestly, those places can’t even compare to the level of service you get here. With only six bungalows, it’s an intimate and personal experience that’s truly one of a kind. I have to give a special shoutout to Dicky, Gusti and Eka —thank you for your amazing hospitality. We’ll absolutely be back! They truly thought of everything for our day trip, even packing a bag with all the essentials—sarongs, towels and even little bags for our wet clothes. I could hardly believe how thoughtful and perfect everything was. Next time, we’re definitely staying for a longer visit! Keep doing exactly what you’re doing and I have no doubt that your success will only grow.

Having travelled and stayed with so many 5 stars hotel, Uma Kalai truly leaves a special impression to my heart. I was (very) anxious coming from Conrad Nusa Dua, but my stay at Uma Kalai had me feeling like I’d like to come back. I would say it’s the staff that have made all the difference. From being greeted with your name every day, the courteous and detailed care they have given, the twice a day room service, the chef and the food, even the yoga teacher was so great. My partner was quite ill when we get to Bali and could not stomach any thing. One of the mornings he wanted nothing but plain tomato pasta (Pomodoro) and though it’s not on the menu, the chef has catered for him and I’m not exaggerating, he said it’s the best pomodoro he’s ever tasted (his family are Italian and live in Italy and we visit frequently!) The hotel is kept very clean, I’m very impressed by the condition of the sauna in the room. And the Japanese toilet is a real treat we’d like to steal it for our icy cold English weather. I would say the location is not the best for if you wish to just quickly pop out to have a street shopping as Ubud has a lot of quaint stores. However it is amazing for our purpose, which is primarily to rest and unwind. The view, the garden, the whole villa combined with the very friendly and helpful staff, is just such a tuck away gem in bustling Ubud. Also to add- You have to eat at the restaurant, you can truly taste every single flavour of the fresh and high quality ingredients.

Nothing to be honest. I think the price of their arranged excursions could be a bit more friendly, and the location is a tad away from the main town (which is actually also a plus cause you can get to the airport without being stuck in horrendous Bali traffic)

Immediately upon arrival, we were greeted by Eka with a warm smile, cold towels, and a complimentary cooler. Check-in was completely stress-free, and the staff were so efficient and accommodating that we were able to check in two hours early. We were then introduced to Dicky, who was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us a thorough tour of the entire property, making sure we were well-acquainted with all the facilities. He was professional and seamlessly communicated our dietary preferences to the rest of the team, ensuring that everything was handled without any confusion. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous, with sweeping views of the rice fields from the main living area and pool. It truly felt like paradise. The chef’s food was impeccable, and the portion sizes were perfect—each meal a delight. We visited at the end of the tourist season, so we had the entire place to ourselves for five days. Despite the quieter atmosphere, the staff remained attentive and made sure every need was met, providing exceptional service throughout our stay. Gusti provided outstanding service, always going above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. He ensured our every need was met with warmth and professionalism, while also engaging us in meaningful conversations that gave us a deeper understanding of Balinese culture. His insights into local customs, traditions, and daily life were fascinating, and we truly appreciated how he took the time to share his knowledge, enriching our experience. Ade also provided exceptional service, always attentive and ready to assist with anything we needed. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals around the property, offering interesting facts that made our stay even more enjoyable. We also went on a half-day tour with Rana, who was a fantastic driver, very funny, and even taught us some of the local language to use during our trip.

Fantastic experience in Uma Kalai and very high level of service ⭐️ ! Every details are under control (yoga mat in each room, yoga course Wednesday morning, water bottle proposed everywhere, fresh coconut water and nuts in the car, incredible food every meal) . Dicky, Gusti, Ade, Eka (butlers), Noni (for an amazing massage), Rana, Ade (drivers) and all the team took care of us and responded to all our needs. The hotel is amazing, very comfortable and quiet ( only 6 villas inside) with a stunning view on rice fields. Thank you, and we hope to come back again 🙏
