Sharazad Oasis Retreat

The facilities of the hotel was way better than our expectations. The restaurant and the food was OK, there were many options that we can choose from. It was a safe and tranquil vacation for us.

It was a little remote from the Zanzibar City, but obviously it is also the reason of the safe and tranquil vacation I mentioned above. Another thing we didn't particularly like was the abundance of the kitesurfers, who made it practically impossible to swim at times.

This is the perfect spot to enjoy the sea, the beach and have a quiet retreat from busy Zanzibar stone town. The facilities offers all you would want, the sea is at your feet, the sceneries during the days at the beach with merchants and tourists walking could keep you awake as a dream passing in front of you. The area is extremely quiet, clean and the services from breakfast to dinner is high quality and standard. In the bungalow I had all I needed, the only think I missed was a small refrigerator to keep my bottle of water cold.

Wi-Fi just doesn’t work….need to reconnect every 3 min and impossible to download any file. Thsi was quite stressing specially when you are expected to answer mails and open attachment

The staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. All pur requests were met in a timely manner. The property is quite big for the amount of rooms so even if it’s full, you don’t feel it’s crowded. The room is very comfortable, nice design, with all the amenities needed. The food was great, lots of options and everything we tried was delicious.

It was really like an oasis at the beach. The accommodation was clean and the bed really comfortable and big. We got our room cleaned twice a day : one in the morning and one in the evening to make sure to disinfect the potential insects. I liked to find our room completely clean and tidy. The rooms were ideally furnished and the aesthetic uncluttered. We chose a room with a view on the ocean and with an outside showers, which was ideal. Moreover, the hotel has a restaurant that serves really good food and the staff is always friendly and caring about guests. On the last night, we got the chance to eat under a romantic gazebo that the staff had prepared for our last honeymoon night there. Everybody really took care of us and we really appreciated that.

As mentioned, we had a room with view on the ocean and with an outside shower. The view on the ocean is nice, even though a little bit obstructed by the several deck chairs disposed on the beach by the hotel. Moreover, the hotel is expanding and our room was unfortunately located next to one of the room under construction. This should have been mentioned prior to our arrival by the staff. It caused a lot of discomfort due to the workers passing by our windows all day long. This was communicated to the management immediately and the management took measures on their hand to stop the problem, however, the workers kept walking by our room/windows regardless. The outside shower is really nice. Nonetheless, the fence not being entirely closed and with the workers passing by, we didn’t feel comfortable enough to use it as much as we would have liked. Finally, we had issues with the wifi, but again the staff and management tried their best to fix it, and we even had a small gesture for that, which we really appreciated.
