Sharazad Oasis Retreat

I loved the care that the staff extended towards us. The house keeping, the bar/restaurant workers, and the front desk. But a special shoutout to Farid! He made sure that we had the best possible stay at the Oasis! Took care of all of our travel arrangements, and made sure Zanzibar was an unforgettable experience! The location is great, the pools are lovely and there are many places to lounge around. The water sports centre staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed and clean.

The breakfast was great (the wasps on all the sweet food weren't great however). The staff were lovely but I did find that I had to get up to get my own coffee or if they brought coffee they would never remember to bring the milk with it. Or they wouldn't bring water to the table unless we asked. They are just small service details that go a long way. I also felt that the bar area lacked atmosphere - it would have been nice to hear a bit of music once in a while (luckily I traveled with my own speaker!)

Lovely hotel on the beach. The staff takes a good care of the beach and it is always clean and comfortable to walk barefoot. The sand is like white powder, so enjoyable to walk :) Super delicious welcome drink by lovely Jacqueline. Delicious Vietnamese restaurant on site. We spent a lot of time there! The luxury bungalow we booked has a lovely elevated balcony overlooking the ocean which makes it a perfect spot to unwind and relax. While we were initially afraid of hearing everything from the attached bungalow, it seems that the soundproofing was quite good between the two bungalows. Overall, a pleasant experience in a lovely boutique hotel!

It seems that it is common in Zanzibar to use mosquito nets to keep part of the windows open instead of glass and shutters. For us, it was challenging to sleep and relax due to noise of the locals early in the morning, disrespectful neighbors at the hotel behind ours who laughed and scream at 6am and the strong sun light. It was great to wake up to this gorgeous view of course, but we had a 5 night stay and would prefer to have some lazy mornings. :)

the property has nice pools and was very pleasant in the evenings.

I purchased two nights stay for one reason, the beautiful outdoor shower….even though I booked the outdoor shower room when I got there the shower room was not beautiful like the photos. there was no flowers growing, not even a wood stand for towels just an empty not enticing room with a shower nothing more.

We had a lovely, large beachside bungalow. The shower was great and the bed was really comfortable. No AC but a fan above the bed kept us cool enough. There was lots to choose from for breakfast as well as daily specials, freshly prepared. The two restaurants on the resort were excellent, with several more to choose from within easy walking distance. The staff couldn’t be more helpful when we had questions. Farid, the excursion coordinator, helped us book a Safari Blue trip and airport transfer.

Not something the resort can do anything about, but at low tide the water is very far out and is shallow for most of the day. You can only really swim for about an hour either side of high tide. Plan your beach activities around high tide.

Hospitality, comfort, incredible food (Italian and Vietnamese), proximity to the beach. The hotel also offered complementary traditional boat trip to see the coastline, snorkel and enjoy the beautiful sea, whilst supporting local business. All staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Perhaps more options at breakfast but for the price you pay, it was a great value for money.

landscape around the villas and pools. rooms are bright and spacious. we stayed in the deluxe suite wich has two double beds, a separate bedroom and 3 bathrooms. much bigger then we imagined. natural wildlife - monkeys, lizards, snakes, small bugs are a bit everywhere. we found it interesting , but if you don’t like this sort of stuff be ware. restaurant price is not expensive compared to other resorts. it’s a low key place but super pleasant to be by the pool and see the beach.

the resort is on a public beach. it’s interesting to see the local population doing sports, play etc on the beach however the sellers are always on top of you. the sand is very muddy so I couldn’t walk on the sea. a lot of seaweed too - common problem in Zanzibar but is better at other resorts. this is a eco resort, we were informed at the arrival that hot water for the shower might not be available all the time, luckily we always had hot water. the hotel is literally on sand, If you don’t like to walk on sand all the time then it’s not for you. pools are cute but very rough material and it scratches your knees when you bump into it. food of the restaurant is ok.
