"Not a hotel, but a unique experience"

No breakfast, only coffee. Wish we had been told we could bring our own food to cook there. There were good cafes in town a short walk away.

Wish it had been clear that we needed to take a ferry to get there.

"Quiet beauty with rich history, helpful staff"

What a lovely surprise and discovery. Between the history of the inn, the friendly helpfulness of the staff and the beautiful tranquil scenery, this was a memorable stopover on our trip. Off the beaten path and worth it.

We would have loved better weather and more time, but the latter is on us. Still, it was great to sit on the covered back porch in the rain and enjoy the stark beauty.

This is a unique place. It is quite wonderful and so are Dawn and Bill. In coming here to stay you have to appreciate it is unique, accept that in some respects you are stepping back in time and honour the history of this building.

"We will be coming back to this one..."

This is one of the most unique accommodations my wife and I have experienced - the building bears up to it's historical mission -still used as a reunion hall for the descendants of the veterans of the Civil War, kind of spooky in a way, no ghosts, but the spirit of the place is palpable. Sit on the porch and look out to sea, feel the peace seep into your bones, then go out and take a bike tour of the island - beauty and history all around.

I have no complaints. The steel framed beds were full sized, and there being two to a room maybe reflects the way people used to sleep together, my wife and I found the bed cozy, though I am not too sure that feeling would have lasted more than a weekend. The shared bathroom for the men is downstairs, ladies upstairs, so if that's a bit too "authentic" try to book one of the rooms that have en-suite facilities.
