Grand Hotel Holiday Resort

Had such a good time! Enjoyed the Spa and the Animations so so much! Would always come back!

We’ve just returned from this hotel as a family of 8. Firstly, all the reviews previously are about massages because the spa ladies ask you write a review as soon as your treatment finishes, luckily I left my phone with my family, otherwise I would have felt the need to write a review before leaving. The treatment was wonderful may I say but perhaps reviews on the hotel itself would be more beneficial to the hotel and upcoming guests. Now to our stay, we have had a lovely time but we wouldn’t return to the hotel I’m afraid. Simply due to the location (short walk down to stalis but taxi back each time 12-15 euros - hotel also offer shuttle bus everyday which was a great addition), very very poor evening entertainment, mini disco for the children was the same 6 songs every night, nothing changed, and paper/plastic cups everywhere!! I like a cup of coffee in a glass cup in my room, not paper! They charged 27 euros for the safe and 100 euros for the tourist tax (which I know can’t be avoided) but even before we got to our room, we were 127 euros down. The food was good for an all inclusive, different every night we ate and the pool bar at the top of the hotel offered a good selection of snacks such as burgers, fish fingers, pizza etc, a few branded drinks (absolute vodka, Havana rum and beefeater gin) but everything else was charged such as Barcardi 8 euros a shot. This hotel is on a steep hill so be prepared to walk uphill if you have children and want to visit the kids pool/slides and mini club. There is a transfer bus that loops around the resort but it’s just catching it. We did use it a couple of times! Room was basic but cleaned everyday by the cleaners with fresh new towels. George in the restaurant was such a friendly man, he made our visit to the restaurant enjoyable, ensuring we had everything we needed. He is a credit to the hotel. Hotel lacked warmth in my opinion to other hotels we’ve stayed in, staff not as friendly as others but overall, a wonderful holiday and we would definitely visit Crete again.

Massage at the wellness centre. Georgia was fantastic. Found the cause of my pain straight away. Fantastic massage and came away pain free. She was kind, and professional. Booked another session with her priorto my flight home. Well worth the money. Thanks Georgial.

Georgia was amazing, deep tissue massage, facial, scrub… totally awesome. Definitely recommend 5 star treatment.

Overall We had the most fantastic 1 week stay, and wish we could have stayed for longer!! We will definitely be back for a holiday here again. All inclusive is definitely the way to go for families. We did see people who went half board their food or drinks that they have as extra is added up in a tab which you pay at the end of the stay I believe. You have to pay a tourist fee on arrival to hotel and you can get your towels from reception for €5 per towel which you get refunded when you check out. Family Room We had a family room which had a bathroom with bath and lovely vanity. The room is separated by sliding doors which have privacy glass on, one side is where the kids slept on single beds and the other side was the parents beds, the beds are low so if kids fall out (our daughter did) it wasn’t much of a fall so no injuries. We had a balcony which could on be accessible via the parent area which was great ideas for safety. Rooms very clean and always tidy. Al a carte main restaurant The service from the staff and welcome staff, especially Marie, was exceptional and very knowledgeable and personal to our stay. What can I say except that the food was phenomenal, all day the food was so delicious and full of amazing Greek food to try especially their puddings! They also had different kinds of foods available not just Greek. We enjoyed every meal here. We have 2 young children age 6 & 2 and they struggled a little but started to come out of shells and the end and try new things. I also have a child with an allergy and all the food had signs with what ingredients labels on so they do cater to allergies too. Everything cooked fresh and restocked regularly. For bottled water there’s re fill stations in reception and in the restaurant so I recommend bringing re fill bottles or alternatively they provide bottled water at lunch and dinner service only. Greek restaurant Me and my husband went to this just us 2 as wasn’t really much for the kids (younger fussy kids) we had a fantastic time and wow of wow if we thought the main restaurant was good, this was 5* food! Delicious every single part of the meal and the service was exceptional! Highly recommend everyone to try when they go. Sadly the Italian restaurant hadn’t opened yet, opens in June. Snack bar The snack bar was really good it’s located up at kids fun pool, the food is cooked to order so wasn’t just just lay out which I liked the idea of, lots of snack bits and burgers, salad bits etc and the doughnuts and ice cream there too which are also very delicious! The outside bar next to main pool has doughnuts and ice cream there which is handy to go with all the delicious drinks. Bars We don’t drink alcohol but they had a wide range of different alcoholic beverages and cocktails, and also lots of on alcohol drinks available too which we were happy about. The waiting staff very friendly and always happy to help. Pools There were 3 pools; the main pool which was great, lots of beds and always space even later in the morning. There is a quiet pool for adults only which looked lovely. Then there was the fun pool for the kids, it had kids pool and little slides and they had an amazing time in there! There’s also a separate area for older kids and adults of the slides, so much fun and you could spend plenty time there. FYI the pools are salt water. Kids club and entertainment staff My girls had an amazing time with the staff at the mini disco every night! The team are so involved and the songs and moves are just so much fun and we enjoyed every night there! There’s plenty of entertainment throughout the day with the team and there’s plenty to do if you want to, they aren’t pushy! Beach If you fancy something different the hotel provides a free shuttle from the hotel at 10.30am every morning to the beach, once off shuttle it’s about 5-10 min walk to the beach and you can choose to lie on your towel for Fremont pay €5 for a bed and use of toilets and someone getting your drinks which aren’t included. The shuttle then picks you back up same place as drop off at 2.30pm. Location The hotel has bus stops right outside and regular buses every 30-40mins each way into either hersonisos or Malia. Spa Me and my husband went for the welcome package which was body scrub, mask and full body Cretan massage with olive oil and I can honestly say it was the BEST massage I’ve had in my life! Exceptional service and team from start to finish with quality homemade products. My therapist was Georgia and she was perfect. Highly recommend to do this if you have time as a couple or on your own!

The hotel is amazing, just what my family and I expected and more. Both my young daughters are really enjoying themselves with all the food, swimming pools & mini discos in the evening. Both the wife and I treated ourselves to a body scrub, mask & massage. I have had a few massages in my time but this Cretan massage is something else! Honestly when I say this, I truly mean it, best massage I have ever had!! Incredible. Highly recommended hotel :-)

Great atmosphere. Very professional and friendly. Myself and my husband had "the one" as a couples session. My treatment was provided by Maria she was excellent great pressure very calming absolutely perfect. Staff make you feel very at ease make sure you have everything you need.
