Plataran Komodo Resort & Spa - CHSE Certified

Excellent service, beautiful accommodation and stunning location

We absolutely loved our stay at the Plataran. It is a very small resort, only 18 rooms and right by the beach. You walk along the beach to get to the restaurants, so feels very much in nature. It is super relaxing and peaceful and has just beautiful rooms and facilities. The spa was fantastic, we had a very good massage and facial. There was a lot of choice at breakfast and in the restaurant. The one thing we missed was some more lighter options for the mains for lunch. They can also organize private Komodo tours over multiple days.

Only reason for not giving 10 stars was the staff very super kind and trying to be helpful. However, many of them were not really trained yet and did not understand english that well.

We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. First class and friendly service, beautiful hotel and surrounds. Two fantastic restaurants. The hotel isn’t huge and so has a very relaxing feel and all very spaced out so lots of privacy.

Wonderful resort. Incredibly nice staff. Beautiful setup for the romantic dinner. Spectacular and delicious sunrise breakfast. Awesome beach on site. Great view in the restaurant. Amazing room, very spacious, comfortable, well decorated and equipped.

Food on the romantic dinnec definitely can be better for this price. Location is a bit remote to the city centre.

Plataran truly exceeded our expectations. The hotel is stunning and in a near-perfect location (a private and isolated beach). Our suite was a few centimeters from the water! The staff went above and beyond (kudos to Eka!) and attended to all of our needs. We also highly enjoyed the spa and the various beach facilities (snorkeling, paddle boards, etc.). Breakfast was also excellent and with ample choice.

We were expecting a tad more from the restaurant. While it was excellent (say, 9/10), it was not quite on par with the prestige and quality of an establishment like Plataran. We also ran into some minor noise issues one evening (some staff were moving furniture very late in the evening and near our room), but the staff on call solved the issue in no time.

Shortage of some ingredients in the restaurants (mozzarella, squid, crab, …) resulting in the absence of some menu meals.

This is the nicest place we have ever stayed at (and probably ever will!). It is expensive, but what you get for the money is just amazing. The location is so beautiful and the resort blends in with nature, our beachfront villa was fantastic (quiet, huge, super comfy bed, very clean, beautiful view) and all the staff were absolutely wonderful. Our butler Eka was amazing and helped us with everything that we needed. Angelo, Harry and Jeffrey were always eager to chat and make sure we were comfortable and happy, and Tia did an excellent job helping us out with snorkelling equipment and the kayaks. The two restaurants were both very good, and the spa was beautifully situated by the beach and offered great massages. There was a great choice of breakfast options and the afternoon tea was a very appreciated extra perk. We were also very lucky that our room was available so we were offered both early check-in and late check-out.

There wasn't really anything not to like, but a suggestion could be that the two restaurants were more different from each other to provide more choice. At the moment, one is slightly more upscale, but they offer similar dishes (some dishes are even the same). There could also be more consistency in the allergy information provided in the menus (some pages indicated which dishes were for example dairy free, but some pages did not and the information did not always seem to be correct) and the restaurant staff could be better informed about food allergies.
