Maliekal Heritance Cherai Beach Cochin

The food in the restaurant was good, Lalu who was our waiter for the week was exceptional. Also the security guard was lovely and helpful.

The Heritance villas are three rooms converted from 1 and as such have paper thin walls you can hear absolutely everything in the next room! Also they have no natural light (2 small windows with no mosquito screen so you can’t open) and are painted dark brown so really really dark, which for £100 a night is shocking. The facilities; Lake view - the immediate lake facilities are really dirty, lots and lots of refuse and smell Bikes - have no brakes, 1 had no chain, wobbly seats, we tried but really unusable Kayak - can only use for short, set times of the day and see above re lake Fishing - 2 rods, no bate, fishing in lake likely to hook a plastic bottle High Tea - not a cake in sight, just really greasy fried food Private beach - very small area away from the sea front and fenced off Pool - nice pool but has a crow issue, all the crows drink and bathe in the pool which means there is permanent bird poo on the outside (and probably inside) Beverage - no one asks if you want a drink when your by the pool Staff - the lady manager was particularly unhelpful despite some serious issues When we asked to move rooms due to noise and darkness we were told yes and then later told we needed to pay an additional £50 per night even though the room was available. After asking and escalating our issues we were eventually moved to a much nicer, really big, light room, however, it was full of mosquitoes so we were bitten to death!

Location

This resort is a scam, they show 5 star level on Booking.com, but service is level of 3 star or less. Food is very less options and served cold... Breakfast, French fries, Roti, puri and bhature are served cold several times. Prices are very expensive related to service. Better to choose a hotel of brand in the city.  Rooms are not clean, dusty, and we experienced musquito's and cockroach walking at night in the bed. They don't let you cancel the stay, nor adjust for less days. So either lose money or stay in the bad situation.  When we arrived, rooms were not accessible for elder people and smell of chemicals in the room. The resolve is a lower category room while being charged for the expensive category room.  The resort doesn't have a proper taxi service, nor laundry service. When you need something from the staff you need to request multiple times in order to get things done.  Furthermore they promise daily spa included on Booking.com, but when you arrive there it is no spa service included and separately chargeable.

Location was awesome and breakfast was ok.

The room was cramped especially the bathroom.

Peaceful and attractive well maintained grounds with a lovely pool area. Room was clean with a front and back balcony and great views over the backwaters. Lovely toiletries provided in the room. Restaurant wasn’t the most ambient but the food was amazing….colourful, delicious and fresh ingredients. Gentleman on the gate was really friendly and welcoming when we arrived in the middle of the night.

The restaurant feels very poorly oriented. There is a beautiful beach outside the property but you can’t sit in the restaurant and enjoy the view. The beach deckchairs are also separated from the beach and located on a small football pitch off the side of the restaurant, we had to hop a fence to reach the beach, this area could do with a bit of a facelift. We weren’t allowed to purchase food or drink near the pool which was a shame, we would have done so if we could. The restaurant is dry, this wasn’t an issue but we were surprised.

The location was great, not too crowded, and We went there as a last resort for our plans to cut short for some reason or other. But the experience there is something else altogether. Every piece of wood used to build that place is well thought out. The lights in that place were glowing at night and were well lit there. The rest of the service was on par. It is an excellent place to unwind, and it’s getting cooler there. The restaurant food was good, but a bit expensive. The chef's curry was seasoned with salt and spices. The breakfast was they had appams and poori and stews it was okay nothing exceptional seen in most restaurants

Constant power and the power to our cottage went out at one time. It took an hour or so to get it rectified. Also, the mattresses are too soft and sink to the bottom, which is not good for the body. I had a hard time sleeping on it

They were inflexible with addition of of couple of hours to the stay, despite the fact that we booked 5 rooms and check in around 7pm
