We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Calinica Seaside Resort, and it exceeded all our expectations. Nestled along the stunning Sicilian coastline, this resort is a true gem that offers a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and authentic Sicilian charm.

Location is good, close to Cefalu. Beds were better than usually found in Italian hotels. The view from the bungalow was nice. The hotel has no rooms but small bungalows. The restaurant is great (we only had breakfast), both the food as well as the view. There were no pancakes, but everything else was there. And more. This is suited for families, so lots of children are there. And a lot of stray cats. The hotel has nice Mugler shampoo and soap.

Italy has a major problem with garbage. It really hurts to see how much garbage there is on the streets and in the sea. This sea was no exception. I like to snorkel, but sometimes it just feels you are snorkling in a garbage dump. The amount of plastic in the sea is shocking and mocks the fact that in the office and schools we are debating about the use of plastic straws and wooden stir sticks. Seriously. I find it shocking this is Europe. And it really is the same everywhere in Italy (I went to Sicily, Sardinia and South on the main land). Some specific facts on this hotel: our bungalow was next to the railroad track. When a train passes, it is really noticeable. The hotel is next to Club Med Cefalu. It has changed name and I found it difficult to find on Google Maps. When found, Google Maps took me to the wrong entrance which is a very, very tight road with lots of possibilities to mess up your rental car. So please do yourself a favor and take the entrance from the right side (which is left of the entrance of Club Med Cefalu). The man that met us at the check in was not so polite, talks very load and talks to you as if you are a child :) Also, they tried to take our passports while we were there and I objected to this. Making a copy of it is ok, but taking my passport from me is not OK.

Such an exquisite location in a beautiful bay and so close to the sea. Very friendly staff. Lovely breakfasts

The very narrow approach road to the resort is not lit and at night this was difficult and could be dangerous (walking or driving) The bar on the beach never seemed to be open.
