Chithirapuram Palace

The property is in Chithirapuram, away from the hustle and bustle of the main Munnar town. It’s a small palace converted hotel only 5 rooms, more like a Homestay. Manoj & the staff are very courteous. Great place to stay with family or family with kids.

Everything in totality was great. Only an observation: 1) The breakfast had only 1 main item with bread & juice. I feel there should be at least 1 more item added 2) I was charged for milk for my infant baby which usually no hotel charges Rest all was great !

The staff were very helpful and friendly.

The cleanliness was absolutely disappointing; our room smelled of mold, probably due to its location, and I had trouble breathing at night. The room itself is nice, but the furnishings are very old. The bathroom was okay. At night, the noise from other guests was very noticeable; I had to ask people to be quiet several times and also inform the hotel staff. The breakfast was barely adequate, with very little choice for Italian tastes.

C'est un endroit charmant, calme, entouré de verdure. Les repas sont corrects, tant en prix qu'en saveur, de l'eau purifiée est en libre service au niveau des chambres. Manoj, le manager est très à l'écoute et fait toujours tout son possible pour ses clients et c'est réussi, on a passé un excellent séjour. Il fait également office de taxi. Il y a quelques balades à faire à pied aux alentours et le paysage est sublime. Nous avions une chambre avec vue sur la montagne et les plantations de thé, repos incontestable. La piscine est bien entretenue avec une jolie vue, c'est relaxant. Tout est propre et bien aménagé. Chithirapuram Palace est un endroit à retenir, tout près des plantations. Lorsque l'on vient de Kochi en bus, demander à stopper à la jonction de Chithirapuram, pour éviter d'aller jusqu'à Munnar. Demander auparavant à l'hôtel s'ils peuvent venir vous chercher, on ne l'a pas fait et on a galèré avec la horde de tuk-tuk venus à la descente du bus nous proposer leur véhicule.

There was a constant unpleasant ODOR coming from outside, along with some smoke, so we had to close the windows and turn on the air conditioning. We had to ask the receptionist for assistance with that. The food was average overall, though the evening snacks and tea were quite good. The cleanliness of the wash area needs improvement, and the dining space feels a bit awkward — it doesn’t give a resort-like vibe. Some light background music could have created a better atmosphere. As for breakfast, it was limited to some bread, puri masala, and pineapple juice. Tea was provided only upon request; the service could be a bit more attentive.

A lovely, quiet place away from Munnar town, with gorgeous natural views. Perfect for relaxing, and very budget-friendly.
