Wonderful manager Penelope and staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming. A truly unique and charming guest house.

Penelope is a gracious and accommodating host, supplying us with food and drink and helping to arrange meals in this peaceful teeny town. The grounds of the complex are spacious and you could hear a babbling brook at night.

Very authentic and relaxing place +great hosts

This place! Everything–and I mean everything—has been thought of and provided. We loved our stay here so much and Penny and Andrada had a lot to do with that. They are wonderful hostesses and made us feel so welcomed and at home; we'll never forget their kindness. The houses themselves are impeccably decorated and characterful; if I could copy and paste the interiors into my own home, I would. :) We absolutely loved that they provide supplies to make breakfast in your own little kitchen, and the supplies on hand ensured that we were able to whip up a nice little dinner on a night when the restaurants in town were unexpectedly closed and we didn't have time to arrange dining with a local. I would highly recommend The Village Pension—if I had friends going to Breb, I would insist that they stay here!

There was literally nothing to dislike. We could not have asked for anything more.

For 3 days we lived like people used to long ago (not including the added bathrooms). I was impressed with the attention to detail in decorating the house with old, beautiful objects.

I loved everything. Penny and Andrada are amazing hosts and their attention to details is fantastic. Starting with the "breakfast kit", the accommodation, the facilities, the surroundings, everything was great. I definitely recommend the place and we'll certainly be back since there are a lot of things to do in Breb.

Not the case.

One of the best stays in Romania. Penelope, the owner, is an amazing lady and it’s been a pleasure have a chat with her. The house is super cozy, clean and accessorized. Nature is surronding you. For breakfast you will find eggs, milk, butter, jam, fruits, cereals, cheese, vegetables and more. We really raccomend this place. Thank you

We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our 3-night stay at The Village Hotel. "Casa Pictata” offers an authentic experience and has all the necessary facilities. Penny is a wonderful host who gladly arranged encounters with the local community: we dined on traditional Romanian food at a local's home, visited a shepherd's station (where the view over Breb is breathtaking!) and we also had the opportunity to observe the cheese-making process.

We stayed 4 nights at the Village Pension (Casa Mica) and had a wonderful time. The house is traditional yet has everything you need for everyday life. Breakfast is delicious and made with local produce. Penny and Andrada were generous with advice on activities -hikes, crafts, etc- and made sure everyday we had everything we needed. Breb is the perfect base to enjoy Maramures’s rural pace and explore more of the region. Wish we stayed longer!
