Food is overall average. The stuff are bit offensive even though they think they are talking politely . Nothing much to be expected from service

Wow! Mudhouse was everything we dreamed it would be, and more. Our stay was excellent from start to finish and we loved everything this place stands for - honouring nature, food and the local community. We stayed in the treehouse, which was such a unique and fun experience - you do need a sense of fun and adventure to get the most out of it. (We did get to look around some of the mudhouses, which would be an equally amazing experience requiring less sense of adventure!). The bed was very comfortable and covered with a mosquito net, the views incredible and we loved the outdoor shower. The team were so welcoming, friendly and helpful and made us feel really at home. Special thanks to Ambili for being amazing, and Deepak for being such a welcoming host. The food was really delicious, and being vegetarian was no problem (as with all of Kerala that we experienced). The surrounding area was so tranquil and unspoiled, we loved the beautiful local walks that you could do from the Mudhouse, and just relaxing, reading, painting and slowing down in the grounds. We loved the gorgeous dogs, and they accompanied us on some of our walks, but the hosts are very understanding if you are wary at all of dogs. Book this place if you want a truly magical, wonderful experience, you won’t be disappointed. I wish we lived closer to be able to visit regularly!

Non vegetarian spread can be diversified

The room was stunning and exactly what I had expected; aesthetics were on point and we were so impressed. We were on our honeymoon and this venue was the highlight we were most looking forward to as we based our trip to Munnar on this property.

Sadly the beautiful room was where our delight ended. The Mudhouse charges high 5 star prices but offers 1 star service; no room service despite asking for towels and a room refresh after breakfast, no toiletries and when we enquired after a toothbrush we were told they were out of stock. But the biggest disappointment was the food. We arrived late in the evening but had been sent the menu via Whatsapp but with no information that it was a set menu or pricing. We didn't realise this until we sat down for our meal. The tasteless bland garlic soup was awful, the overcooked chicken curry and everything that came from the kitchen lacked flavour and authenticity. Given this is one of the most beautiful growing regions we visited on our 21 day trip around Kerala the chef chose north Indian dishes cooked with misery and no local flavour which is at your fingertips here! Don't even bother and take an auto to the town for a meal. We couldn't finish our meal and chose to dine in the local village the following night which was delicious and value for money. The Mudhouse offer no information on local activities or places to dine, we don't want to sit on our phones on our honeymoon to read local information but we had to as there was nothing in the rooms to read on the MANY local things to do and see while in Marayoor...we had to go and enquire with locals for ourselves. We did complain and let the manager know our unhappiness in our experience and she was kind to put our disappointing dinner on the house at no charge but for a venue that charged more than the beautiful resorts we stayed at the service doesn't make it worth your while...it has potential to do better - since they used the local Mudhouse aesthetic so beautifully it wouldn't be that hard to match the food to the venue with local dishes that have flavour and authenticity. And improve your room service please to match the beautiful rooms and garden.

This stay was an absolute highlight of my trip to India. More than just a place to sleep, it was a genuine treat for the soul, especially during the monsoon season. The symphony of sounds at night was incredible, so vibrant I could have sworn the frogs were right beside me! Waking up to a stunning view of staff harvesting fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden for that day's lunch was a beautiful touch. The food was delicious: fresh, vegetarian, and served with a smile. I deeply appreciated their commitment to sustainability, from the glass-bottled filtered water (no plastic in sight!) to their overall ethos. What truly stood out, however, was the staff. Their genuine kindness and constant smiles were a clear reflection of a happy and content team. A truly special and conscious place.

We had such a wonderful stay at The Mudhouse! Ambili, Deepak and all of the staff were so warm and friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The kitchen staff cooked the most delicious traditional meals, which were always served up with the biggest smiles! Our hut was clean and beautifully decorated, with an amazing outdoor shower and a peaceful veranda out front. The location is truly spectacular and was the perfect spot to rest and unwind. We particularly enjoyed walking to the river, cycling around the local area and spotting wildlife! We also thoroughly enjoyed treatments in the spa and morning yoga. We highly (highly) recommend staying at The Mudhouse!
