Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort, Costa Rica, by Hyatt

Beautiful pool area, but it was always hard to find a chair and the waiters were very inattentive. The beds were really comfy. We liked the food and were very happy with the food package we booked.

Everything seemed really unorganized. We had gotten an email a few hours before we arrived asking to check in online, but they couldn’t then provide the room category we had booked, so we didn’t check in online. When we were at the hotel at the end of the check in process we asked about the room category and were only then informed that we had been downgraded. After some discussion they offered that we could either wait for another room or take the downgrade, pay less and get an extra room credit. So we took the downgrade. When we checked out, we saw that the room credit was not applied. They then applied it, but again only after we inquired about it. When we were at the airport we found that we had payed the full price for the room we had originally booked, but with the tax and resort fee extra it looked like it was less. So please check your bill carefully at checkout. We also had a charge from the spa that we never used. My husband wanted to do the stretching class in the morning and was shuttled back and forth to the spa and the lobby because nobody knew where it was. We saw a dead rat next to the walkway and informed the lobby about it and two hours later it was still there. At the table it happened regularly that two or three waiters came to take our order, apparently they were unorganized, but when we needed something we had to wait for minutes until someone came. The room was very standard, not what we expected for the price we paid.

Service was outstanding! Loved the Serene environment!

The website advertised hiking. We had an amazing hiking tour, but I though there would be more hiking trails at the resort.

Warm and superb hospitality, beautifully appointed rooms and situated in a beautiful location in Costa Rica.

Our stay at Andaz was 99.9% paradise. For 100%, I would have love to have a dance party night.

Location was fantastic. The Italian restaurant was amazing. The food was great and the servers were so attentive.

It was pricier than we normally pay

The location inside the tropical forest, animal watching, the beaches were beautiful, specially Nacascolo. The activities offered were very entertaining , the staff was very nice .The property is beautiful and the golf cart service was very usefull, also the shuttle service inside Peninsula Papagayo

Although there are multiple choices of food at Rio Bongo, the food was not the best. On the other restaurants the food was fine and delicious
