Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and clean. Beach was very good.

Breakfast was so poor. Couldn't sleep at night due to the loud music outside the hotel.

During our 10 day stay in Egypt, we stayed in 4 different hotels. I must say that Jewel matrouh was the best one by far. Firstly, the receptionists were so accommodating and lovely, especially Nada. The laundry lady was so kind and always smiling- somehow whilst she was washing our clothes, there had been a tiny hole in one of our clothes which she was very apologetic for and was honest and admitted her mistake. We didn't mind at all as she was so sweet and humble. The staff at breakfast were so lovely too, very helpful and caring. They knew we were a large group and liked to eat together and they would ensure they made a space for us every morning. The hotel itself had everything you need- it was clean, comfortable beds, shampoo/shower gel/waters/kettle/tea/coffee etc in each room Cleaning ladies would come everyday and do an awesome job. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jewel Matrouh- as foreigners they welcomed us kindly and tried their best to communicate with us Many reviews complain about the noise and although I agree that this is true, I have to say that the noise didn't disturb us at all. We had mixed ages in our group, old people, youngsters and little children and everyone got their beauty sleep! I also really liked their arrangements for towels-using a towel card and thought the wristband was a great idea especially if anyone was to get lost as it gets very busy at night, it would be easy to find your way back home by showing anyone the wristband! A solid 10/10 and I would love to return

"Avoid this place at any cost"

1.0

- Dinner was Of great quality, all the food tastes like home made - House keeping in the rooms was Of a very good standard. - Reception are mostly friendly trying to sort issues beyond their control due to poor management and outdated systems and process - Management accommodated the issue of losing room key and a towel ( Maybe to make up for a very bad experience the group had)

- Overall one of the worst experiences I have had in my entire life, it is a mystery how this hotel got their star ratings and are still in Business. a) reservation: Too many errors between Booking.com and the hotel management and as a result some missed on the meals which was paid ( kids meals), some has to pay for half the board for some of the children. Booking.com did also very poor job closing out the issue with the booking details and especially when I was following up from Australia b) Food : Breakfast was of very poor quality (cheese quality, bread not fresh, pastry was not good, not enough food in some cases, no coffee at Breakfast unless you order and pay for it ?! ) Dinner is a set menu and very rigid system for booking the time for the dinner, they will serve the dinner regardless you’re on your table or not. They will still delay the food if it suits them and the guests have to wait). Everything about the dinner is s big deal, adding or removing items, the staff are not trained and have no idea on hospitality). Lack of care is basically the overall vibe you get in this place. The staff supervisor will come and count how many water bottles were served ?!?! Even though the food quality was really good but the portions are tiny for both adults and children). Beach : Biggest Disappointment, they claim it is a private beach - The Hotel AGM strongly believes it is accurate description and the norm in that locality - The truth is, it is open to public for a ticket (100 LE) and there is no limit on how many tickets they sell per day. As a result the beach gets crazy busy and attracts the worst crowd. The behaviour of some of those customers is appalling and not a family friendly environment at all. The Jet ski are too close to the beach and as a result all day you will be smelling Gasoline and in some instances the jet ski cross the line for the beach and they drive over it.

Having a private beach is a nice feature as other beaches are very crowded in the summer. The hotel facilities are well maintained.

Wi-Fi is intermittent and of very poor bandwidth. The dinner (as part of half board) is a set menu rather than buffet and not all items on the menu can be requested (unless you pay extra). The nights are very noisy due to nearby cafes..you still can hear loud singing with all Windows shit up until 4 am.
