Tahakopa Lodge - Cabin

It was very cozy. Probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! I also forgot to bring honey for my tea and the host graciously gave me some!

Fantastic hosts, beautiful garden and wonderful surroundings. The room was cosey and very homely.

There was nothing I disliked.

the bedroom had a door to an open back verandah, as did the room with the fridge as did the kitchen with the bathroom… rather inconvenient when the owners kitchen opened onto this outdoor area … difficult to go out in the cold at night to use the bathroom.. also hard to find off the beaten track, 9 kms of gravel road

The facts: This is a room in someone’s house. It has a private entrance because it has it’s own door to the backyard. The private entrance door does not lock from the outside. The bathroom is located as a separate room in the property. You must cross the outside patio to enter a kitchenette. Inside the kitchenette is a bathroom. No doors can be locked from the outside so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving any of our things anywhere as we had to move outdoors to separate rooms of the house. The kitchenette had watered down hand soap. The bathroom does not have a sink that works so you have to step into the kitchenette to brush your teeth, wash hands, face etc. The toilet does not flush properly. The bed had dead bugs on it and other people’s hair— one strand of hair I get— but this was all over, especially on the pillows. No curtain in the bedroom for a window facing the road. It’s fairly isolated but anyone can see you in your room and the sun comes in pretty strong.
