Herdwick Shepherd Hut

The location and huts were very cute

It would have been good to have cleaning cloths to wash dishes and also enough cutlery. There was a lot of badly chipped crockery

Secluded & quite Location and an outside fire pit

The check in process was very easy, the location beautiful, very clean and well presented, appreciated the complimentary logs and kindling and the outside lights were beautiful. The shower was great and nice and warm and clean. Outside the table and chairs and fire pit were lovely to use in the sunny weather. Parking was very handy close to the hut as well which was a plus. Only issue was the top bunk is very close to the ceiling so my 4 year old hit her head quite a few times in the night when waking up so I slept badly. I was unable to put her on the bottom bunk as my elderly mother was there. Even just grabbing her water bottle I smacked my head twice. Lowered just a small amount especially near the ladder would make it 5 star!

Back to basics, quite location. Clean.

Only they should mention to bring your own towels.

No television. No WiFi, just an intermittent Internet connection. Turned the phone off and watched the flames from the log burner, and also the snow falling outside. Peace and tranquility. Couldn't ask for anything better. Shepherds Hut was clean and tidy. Bed very comfortable. A 20 minute walk led you to the Tradesmans Arms. Great beer, food, and a landlady with a great sense of humour. A beautiful part of the country, and loverly people.

What was there to dislike ...it was perfect .

We loved how cosy the hut was, how simply we could live for 24 hours, the provisions to heat the hut and eat/drink, and the location to begin a walk on Dartmoor. The nearby Tradesmans Arms did excellent food. The owner also let us check in early at 2pm, which was greatly appreciated.
