"Wonderful on every level"

10.0

The Otesaga never disappoints. The rooms are large, clean and well air conditioned. The beds are comfortable with luxurious linens. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing beats sitting on the back veranda in a rocking chair, gazing at the lake while sipping your morning coffee or evening cocktail.

"Fantastic resort stay for our family!"

10.0

We stayed at The Otesaga for 3 nights this July. Everything was first rate, detail oriented, and guest focused from the moment we pulled up to the entrance! There are so many positives to include, I think it's best just to list them: -Francisco the bellman was professional and immensely helpful upon arrival after a long commute to the resort -The front desk staff immediately put our family at ease and oriented us to resort features, as well as, in town items that we might enjoy -Decor was bright, clean, and historic -Room spacious, clean, and with classy features such as turn down service! -Bathroom generously sized with enough room to feel 'at home' and the water pressure...wow-wow like being at home, thank you! -Golf course and staff were FIRST RATE with our family experience -Hawkeye grill is a MUST for any family staying; wholly approachable yet flair and gourmet carries through the menu. What a treat! -1909 for the upscale adult steak night, yes! -Parking was adequate and never an issue -Pool is HEATED and feels like your own private oasis -And the VIEWS from the back porch with the lake, with live music playing....we could sit and sip wine and drinks all afternoon if we had the time! -All interactions with all levels of staff were fantastic. Immediately can tell the management prides their Resort on first rate customer interactions. EVERYONE would look you in the eye, smile, exchange a pleasantry, and ask if they could be of assistance, etc. Made us feel at home the entire trip. Well done to the management and everyone on staff during our stay! All in all, STAY HERE and you will get that 'old school' resort treatment with all the modern amenities you expect. Short walk away from the HOF and 'downtown'. Bravo and we hope to visit with The Otesaga again soon!

"Gilded age charm"

10.0

Beautiful old-style hotel on a gorgeous lake. Rooms were large and comfortable and water pressure in the showers was awesome. Amazing service and amenities, and the food at the grill was better than anywhere else in town, and the prices weren’t exorbitant. would highly recommend!

"Unfortunate Controversy about Kids"

8.0

Perhaps Hell is a visit to Cooperstown without a passion for baseball. Otesaga was a refuge for us: 2 restful nights of lodging and 4 nights of dining, away from the baseball crowd and surpassing anything we found in town. I guess the lure of baseball breeds lazy cuisine and hospitality. Even Otesga's bakery/cafe was better than anything on Main Street. Our first two dinners were extra delightful for the view across Otesaga's back lawn where boys and girls in the 7 to 12 year range found new friendships in ad hoc teams for wiffle-ball. Some leggy pre-teens, like volunteer cheerleaders, regaled us with their reverse somersaults. Parents and wine-sipping strangers like us rested our eyes on clumsy fielding and bad base-runs while the sounds of young laughter restored our faith in the American dream. So it was painful, during our final two dinners, to watch dour security staff shoo the children off, leaving the pristine lawn in desolate silence. I'm pretty sure the hotel was reacting to a troll's review ("Bumble's Mom" in early June). Shame on them. I may never get a passion for baseball, but I look forward to some future evening when the bat-cracks and children's laughter mingle with our cocktails around the fire circle, rendering the magical elixir of life itself, but for now — ...somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout. But no joy at Otesaga — Mighty Casey has struck out.

"Rooms Need Renovations To Justify Prices"

6.0

The hotel's common areas are beautiful however the rooms are way over priced for what you get. Even the higher end suites are in need of serious renovations. Loud squeaking floor boards under old carpeting allow every foot step from the floor above to be heard. The suite doors have large gaps, allowing the noise from the hallway to be constant and during baseball season with the children, it starts early and goes on until past midnight. The HVAC system is decades old. A room with one bed room with a view that's mostly obstructed will run about $800 per night inclusive of taxes. Management also needs to monitor its house keeping staff. One large woman stayed on her phone leaning against her cleaning cart for considerable time and was oblivious to guests trying to pass her. Note: If you book June thru August the hotel will be packed with young children.

"Cooperstown Excellence"

10.0

This beautiful hotel was 5 stars from the staff to the food but the view was 10+! Every evening before eating dinner we had drinks at the fire-pit or pub table. The location was a short walk to the town with awesome stores especially Tin Bin Alley for candy and gifts and the Baseball Hall of Fame. Make sure you take the history tour that the hotel offers!

Such a nice place! Service from staff is so great. Only downside is concierge isn’t much help or responsive but other than that, everything is amazing!
