"Beautiful Hotel, But Too Many 'No's. Not "GUEST" friendly"

2.0

Beautiful hotel, but not guest-friendly This is a beautiful property with genuinely kind and helpful staff, but unfortunately, our experience was filled with constant “no’s.” Can we get food from the downstairs restaurant served by the fire pit? No. Can the kids play in the large grassy area? No. Can our group sit outside instead of inside, even though there were plenty of empty seats? Still no. It felt like management went out of their way to make everything unnecessarily difficult—for us and for their own staff, who were doing their best. To make matters worse, the pool was closed just as the kids wanted to swim—on one of the few beautiful days we had. Despite it being early evening, they wouldn’t extend pool hours by even 20 minutes to let the kids enjoy it. Then came the spiders. A huge one crawled on my son while he slept. Two nights later, we found another one in the room and asked to switch. While the staff handled the request, the hotel overall did very little to make up for the situation. Disappointing, considering how special the stay could have been.

"Kids ruin the ambience"

2.0

You can forget about enjoying a nice stay at the hotel from June through August now that “Dreams Park” has rolled into town. It’s just one big noisy kid fest! Oh yes, they play baseball at the park but when their team is not playing there, they are running around the hotel or hitting wiffle balls into your lunch or dinner plate on the patio, or yelling at each other. There is no such thing as a quiet, relaxing time sitting on the veranda enjoying the view. ( Which is spectacular!). But the view doesn’t come close to making up for all the noise and chaos! It’s a shame too, because we’ve always enjoyed staying here when there was no Dreams Park.

"Historic Otesaga Resort on Lake Otsego - worth the visit!"

10.0

Where history and luxury meet in the most comfortable pleasant atmosphere. Magnificent Federal Style Resort with beautiful surroundings and waterfront on southern shore of Lake Otsego. A short walking distance to Cooperstown shops and restaurants and a short visit to the past and present Fenimore Farm and a short drive to the oldest historic covered bridge in America at Glimmerglass State Park. This historic Inn is family owned for centuries and so clean and comfortable with the most pleasant accommodating staff and all the exquisite amenities including fine dining restaurants to delicious market cafe to scrumptious buffet breakfast - it is hard to leave the premises. But when you do to sightsee - the return back is so inviting. Definitely exceeded our expectations and definitely recommend - worth a visit.

"You'll be wrapped in comfort, hospitality, and delicious food!"

10.0

For my husband's 77th birthday, I arranged a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame, with an overnight at the Otesaga. What a wonderful experience! From the greeters at the door, to Lance at the reception desk, to the restaurant staff, and the housekeepers, they know hospitality! The weather was cloudy and cool, the reception was sunny and warm. We had a delicious dinner in the Hawkeye- the best end cut of prime rib I've ever eaten, and my husband loved the beef and sausage meatloaf. We couldn't finish it all, so we asked for a doggie bag! And what a feast we had when we arrived at our camp the next evening! Did I mention the bucolic setting in the heart of the rolling hills of New York State! I'm a finicky traveler. I like top notch cleanliness, a comfortable be, to be able to open a window in a hotel, and turn off the HVAC system. You can do that at the Otesaga!! We had the best sleep-so quiet, so comfortable. I wish it was around the corner. I can't imagine how busy it must be during induction (into the Hall of Fame) season, and the summer months, but I'd go back for the hospitality and the food! The breakfast had everything you could want and more- the usual eggs, meats, omelets-to-order, fruits, yogurt, cereal, granola, pancakes, waffles, potatoes, you name it! The grounds are beautifully maintained, and include traditional pots of flowers along the entry, and exits, all in the same violet color scheme. The Hall of Fame was pretty fantastic, too! Thank you, Otesaga, Hall of Fame, and Cooperstown! Frederica

"The Grand Old Lady on the Lake"

10.0

We stayed here for New Year’s Eve and loved every second. Cooperstown is small town America in a nutshell. It is an amazing place to see at Christmas and The Ottesaga sits as the grand old lady on the lake. We sat on rocking chairs looking over the lake with family and it really was the most idyllic spot I’ve been to in a long time. The staff are impeccable and the rooms super spacious. I would recommend this place to everyone! The baseball hall of fame is also a must see!

"This is a wonderfully amazing place."

Location, history, beautiful, and classy.

One small complaint. There was a cord and phone charging station on one end table but not the other.

"Lovely Stay."

10.0

Visited The Otesaga Resort Hotel for a weekend while my spouse was attending a conference at the hotel. Hotel grounds were meticulously maintained; views of the surrounding foothills were pleasant. Utilized the on-site restaurants at the time of our visit; fare was good quality with excellent selection. Recommend restaurant reservations as tables quickly fill during peak times. A few restaurants, cafes located in the village of Cooperstown, but within walking distance. Spa located on-site but did not utilize during our visit. Many wineries, and a few distilleries, breweries, and cideries were located a short drive from the hotel. Staff were friendly, accommodating, diligent, and knowledgeable. On-site self-parking available. Adjusting and maintaining the guest suite climate control was a bit challenging at first but was mastered later in our visit; air conditioning was disabled for entire hotel at the time of our visit. King bed was comfortable; pillows offered excellent neck support. Recommend reserving rooms on high floors and away from elevators to minimize noise. Overall superb stay. I would recommend the hotel's Breakfast Package. I would also consider staying at The Otesaga Resort Hotel again when visiting Cooperstown in the future.

"Very nice with a lot of BUTS"

6.0

Lovely property, with beautiful lobby and salons, on very pretty location, BUT... its not an easy hotel to stay in, I found the room small, and we could not get the heat up, we were freezing, got a shock from sn outlet where I plugged in my charger! The furniture is old and worn looking! The bathroom was difficult for laying out make up, flat iron etc! The staff is wonderful, the location is great for walking into town, the restaurant is very nice! To be honest there isn't another hotel in the area that comes closer to this place, but it was a difficult stay, I think it's better in warm weather and you can sit out on the back patio etc! I felt disorganized in my room, but if I go to Cooperstown again, I would still stay there!!
