Llethrau Forest & Nature Retreats

The cottage was amazing, very spacious for my family of six! The beds were the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in anywhere apart from home! We all had such a great time together staying in this absolutely stunning cosy cottage! There were also so many lovely little touches such as complimentary drinks and crisps, a huge cupboard full to the brim of board games which kept my little ones entertained and a large selection of great DVD’s, books and music cds! You really do have everything you need for a peaceful getaway!

The track that you need to drive down to get to the cottage is ridden with potholes so can possibly damage your tyres, we had to be extremely careful and wouldn’t dare venture out during the dark because of how dangerous the outcome could’ve been! The only other issue I had was that one of the facilities mentioned prior to myself booking was that there would be a BBQ. Unfortunately Alpine cottage did not have a bbq, However next door did have a BBQ so I called up stating that I could not find my BBQ and was informed that the host has removed all BBQs from the properties on site apart from the farm house and that I was welcome to take two small disposable BBQs from the shop. Unfortunately this was a major inconvenience as my family and I always book properties with a BBQ as we love to have a nice BBQ outdoors in the summer and we feel like it really enhances the experience! I had marinated and bought along with me four large boxes of different meats which we had all really looked forward to eating and unfortunately this just wasn’t possible to cook on two small disposable BBQs. I do think that it is misleading to state that the cottage has BBQ facility when it no longer does so this needs to be amended. It took ages to cook a small amount of chicken on the disposable bbq so we were all disappointed and had to take the rest of our meats home! I’m glad that the cottage did have a fridge or £50 worth’s of meat would have been wasted! Apart from the BBQ issue, we did have a great stay and customer service was really helpful with telling us where the disposal bbq and matches were located

Gorgeous little retreat for the weekend to just get away from it all. Set in the most surreal surroundings and a great way to spend a babymoon a few weeks before baby is due

The grounds were beautiful. It was so peaceful. We definitely picked the right hut because it's a little sun trap and just got to enjoy the sun and chill out on her deck all day till it was cool enough to take the dog for a walk. The grass was kept in good condition for walks. The Nadine hut was lovely and the painted ceiling was to die for!. It was like a mini adventure getting to the place from when you turn off the main road, which will leave people wondering if they are on the right track, but you are just keep going haha. Zoe was lovely and answered all my questions in a timely manner. We will definitely be back (if we can find space in their booking).

The bed wasn't comfortable at all. We had to put some blankets down as well just to get a bit of cushioning. The shower was only set at one temperature, one that was quite hot. On the booking site it said there was an outdoor bbq there but when we got there it didn't have one, so i messaged Zoe to ask where it was, only to be told they don't have one because people were setting the decking on fire, so we had to buy the disposable ones from the honesty box which cost us £15 for 3 for our stay.

Leaving

We went expecting a nice well equipped cabin what we got was moldy kettle spiderwebs everywhere every shelf desk beams lights window ledges hadnt been dusted for looks like months if not years all remotes where either filthy falling apart and never worked was told couldnt take car up drive to apartment had to stay in car park even though every other apartment had cars or vans outside there doors ...and when was dropping off luggage a huge white van inpatiently pushed past near scraping front of car plants and bushes growing up out side windows even pushed way through cravks in walls and ivy protruded into accomadation large journey to an from shops and drives upto and from property where very uneven car wasnt happy gowing over and through some pretty deep ruts in pathway could simply be fixed by gravel or some thing put in deeper ruts my front bumper even at 5mph would appreciate it sink inside small bathroom was coming away from wall and large 60inch tv mentioned along yhe way turned into a small 32inch if that and like said freeview ..tv...and dvd had no usefull remotes this combined with fellow cabin rentees walking past the outside with larger dogs while staring in windows as if we was long lost family this was mentioned as being for those wanting and looking for peace and quiet got that in spades because tv and things couldnt be turned over without getting up and down and was so fuilthy you wouldnt want to touch them even if worked ...and the make shift path from lower drive to the front gate was a deathtrap being barely maintaned and one point caused an accident resilting in scrapes cuts and bruising to partner not a place that despite many online seemingly bogus claims that guests enjoyed stays most where 3 or 4 years old maybe bavk then it was better maintaned an works carried out £360 for around one full day and half another because of cough...cleaning and preperation time ......what was actually cleaned or prepared ?????

The location is surrounded by beautiful countryside and farm animals, you can expect cattle grids and little streams in the surrounding areas. A charming house with lots of character that comes with it's age. A unique and wonderful location

Unfortunately, we arrived to only one bed made. No WiFi, toilets not the cleanest, one shower wasn't usable due to shower pressure and dishes were tired. Although the response was relatively quick, it wasn't the most forthcoming and proactive solution based response. We left our trip with the second room still unmade, no WiFi and no urgency to solve the problems listed. We thank the venue for having us and tried to be reasonable and polite as we are respectful of people's business and difficulties that come with but it didn't meet the expectations we hoped and think that it only fair to have requested a refund as we thought it fair having to settle with half of a usable house after driving over 5 hours. We do hope that others have a better experience than us because it is lovely.
