Shik Shack Backpackers

The host team was very welcoming and friendly from our day of arrival. By the time we left, we felt as a part of the family. Lovely team and great culture they have. Breakfast and Dinner as a group is something I and my girlfriend loved immediately after the day of arrival. Short distance drive to Orpen Gate into the Kruger National Park and Manyeleti Nature Reserve. Made it very convenient by shortening the drive up and down.

The room was slightly small and as such we'll be booking the bigger option on next trip - we'll be going back, yes. Maps of the area (routes to Kruger and other activities in the area) would help greatly.

I liked the sustainability and the look of the property.

They had an event at the property which we were not informed of. The people occupied the whole are and played very loud music while shouting until quite late. Our chalet was right next door so we could hear everything. We did not feel comfortable or safe at all since the people were also drinking excessively. We stayed there and left early in the morning for Orpen Gate at the Kruger and the one morning I had to go wake up the person to unlock the gate. This was the day after the part that they had. The one morning when we wanted to shower there was also no water so we left for the day without showering which was very uncomfortable.

Helping the community and working together with volunteers to create a better tomorrow. Cosy outdoor lounge, very green garden and surroundings.

On Saturday night there was quite a bit of noise coming from a nearby village (party)

Nice ecological place. They have a good cause in mind. The huts are fine and also the common shower. Big common kitchen, and nice stuff.

It was such a quirky little place. Lovely environment and there was a viewing deck overlooking Kruger national Park. Stars were stunning at night time. Cabin we stayed in was clean, food was delicious and staff were super helpful. Had a group of girls that were volunteering to help with some renovations while we were there so there was a bonfire at night, music and good company. Great vibes. Was also wonderful to see how they were helping the community through their NPO.

It was an awesome place and the staff are really kind and available. The tent are comfy with good isolation. The bathroom are clean and. Thank you again.

This stay is absolutely amazing! What they do (all about recycling, having an eco-village where they have a crèche for children, adopt donkeys and dogs, etc) is just amazing! The staff is very helpful and friendly! Staying here is just a touching experience you would not forget! Would really recommend! Also for doing volunteer work with the children: I recommend!!

The location is great, the staff are all amazing, Wellington is a good host, with great on knowledge of the general area.

I would expect a place like this to be totally off grid or least be prepared enough for the current black outs the country is experiencing. A load shedding schedule should be relayed to stay over guests. A proper camp orientation would be nice, esp around the kitchen. A fan in the tent, esp during summer months would be such a winner.
