Homestay at Julie's

I had a fantastic stay at Julie's. I felt at home immediately and I was made very welcome. I really enjoyed the activities that Julie invited me to, including the dances and quiz. I loved my stay and I would definitely want to stay again if I return to Cairns. Thank you Julie 😊

That I found out about this awesome place that exists....

Wasnt there long enough to really say what i liked as I only stayed 1 night even though it was paid for 5 nights. From what I observed yes it was clean and there’s a routine and setup Julie likes to have done a certain way. This just wasn’t a place for me at all.

I did notice the strap holding the top of stairs but didn’t notice it was unsteady at any point this however didn’t bother me just puts ? over how sturdy it is and why it hasn’t been properly fixed. Toilet is right next to the room but again you can hear things through thin walls though I was only there for sleep and if I had stayed I wasn’t planning on staying at home stay much. Advertises wifi and laundry none of which was mentioned when shown around up stairs as normally in anywhere else it’s shared without asking. Not that this bothered me this just for other travellers that might appreciate this info. Im not one to sharing things about myself or what im doing. I noticed Julie was annoyed that i didnt take her up on the lift which wouldve been $25 from train station to her home as she thought/assumed i didnt know my way around i also reiterated that i been to cairns before. If i was unsure about something theres a thing called maps on anyones device to use. I noticed the distance from train station was sufficient for me to walk and if i chose to pay for transportation i would use a taxi as that is a cheaper option compared to her flat rate of $25 service. In the end I had to leave this Homestay after 1 night for personal reasons I didn’t share these details with Julie as this wasn’t any of her business to know.

Absolute value for money, Clean, quiet and comfortable. It has the privacy and connivence of a hotel on a hostel budget. Host also does airport pickup/dropoff for a small fee.

About 10 min walk to the main road. Not a huge deal though.
