We had a lovely stay at Maliyeckal Homestay. It was around 45 minutes (by bus) south of Munnar, in a peaceful natural area. The room was comfortable, and it was nice having our own balcony in addition to the shared terrace. However, we loved spending time on the terrace and meeting fellow travellers. We enjoyed all of our meals there, and loved that there was some kitchen amenities so you could make your own coffee & tea. The family were very kind and hospitable, and we enjoyed hanging out with Jaan, their youngest son. Jaan took us to a local swim spot which was wonderful. If you're looking for a local experience, and spending time in nature away from the main tourist spots, this is a great place to stay.

We don't have anything negative to say, however, as mentioned above, it's a bit far from from the main town of Munnar (which we knew when we booked.) Due to this, you'll pay extra for tours (due to them transporting you to Munnar), and seeing the tourist spots will take more time.

The homestay is truly beautiful and offers everything one could expect at this price point—and even more. The hosts are incredibly kind and always ready to help, providing guidance in every situation. Their honesty and hospitality make the stay even more special. Highly recommended!

Nice place in the middle of the nature with a wonderful welcoming family. Feels like home!

Very beautiful garden, owners including the kids. It is a little paradise in the jungle!

The setting of the homestay with the gorgeous terrace and nice view over the garden is really nice. The 2 sons are great to have a chat to, and the family all speak excellent English. The rooms are nice, although a little basic, with a lovely private balcony.

Although the setting was delightful, it was a bit remote. You're a bit stuck and getting food is a challenge, so you need to eat at the homestay. I found the breakfast (included) and dinner (price kept changing) not tasty at all, plus served at weird times. It delayed my morning. I found that when I stayed at the homestay in the day time I felt some pressure to go out. My stay felt a little transactional. Even though the family are nice, I just felt like I was a source of income. I wish they pick up and drop off with your luggage because it's a bit of a walk with heavy bags, but seems they're not keen for that. The room is nice but the bathroom tap leaked, toilet was unstable, and no hot water shower so you cannot bathe at night. Also, nowhere to put your things. I don't feel this homestay is good value for money, especially because you need to pay more for meals, no hot water etc. Be sure you ask very clearly about the cost because it seems to be charged per dish, not per meal (contrary to what I was first advised), and price is quite high for the quality and quantity. By the way, TV is not in the room, and not even sure it works! Finally, I think (but cannot be sure) they enter your room when you are not there. I couldn't stop the tap leaking, but when I came back to room, the tap position had been moved and not leaking anymore.
