We really enjoyed our stay here. The family are friendly and helpful, and the shared terrace was a great way to meet other travellers. We ate here each night and the food was good. Family will help with booking anything you want to do. We did the half day hike and the Kathapali performance, which were both excellent. The room had a nice balcony, although we spent our free time on the shared terrace.

We liked it all, but you should be aware that the location is 40 mins from Munnar centre by bus, about 6km from Adimali. The buses are frequent and cheap (35 rupees). We enjoyed the quiet village location.

"Great value homestay in the jungle"

9.0

Amazing location in the jungle. Simple to access by bus. I liked the communal area with kitchen and dining table. It was easy to meet other travellers which was really cool. The family were friendly, especially the two boys. It felt peaceful waking up here each morning surrounded by trees.

Breakfast wasn’t great, a bit bland. Bathroom got a bit flooded after showering, squeegee would have been good.

Wow, what an amazing place to stop for a while to chill in the middle of nature. We have spent a full month here and we really enjoyed every moment.

The bed is a little bit hard, but I saw this is normal to India but would be an advantage if they upgrade to better mattress and pillows We loved the balcony, but also the couch and the chairs in it were not really comfortable, but it was okaysince we had access to the shared terrace, which has comfortable ones.

"A calm peaceful homestay in the forest"

10.0

Maliyeckal homestay is tucked away in a spice forest. It’s one of the most peaceful places I have ever been to. All the rooms are off the beautiful roof terrace. Breakfast is included and Jubia will cook dinner for you as well.

We loved everything

"Beautiful homestay in idyllic location"

9.0

Beautiful location - perfect for anyone who wants a retreat like holiday. Large veranda overlooking trees and balcony in room. Friendly family who want to make you as comfortable as possible. Home cooked breakfast included and lunch and dinner at a small additional cost. Jubia is a fantastic cook!

It would have been useful to have somewhere to put away clothes.

"Exceptional - the perfect stay with the kindest family"

10.0

There are so many things that we could say about Maliyeckal homestay! Firstly, the location is perfect - it is situated in a small valley and surrounded by the family's beautiful garden where they grow all of their own fruit, vegetables and spices. It is truly like a little oasis. It is a 30/40 minute bus ride from Munnar so it is very peaceful, which is exactly what we were hoping for. We would definitely recommend the bus journey though, the views are breathtaking! One of the highlights is the property's terrace where we spent a lot of time relaxing, reading and meeting other guests. There is also so much to do in the local area - the family were very helpful in providing recommendations for treks through tea plantations, sightseeing, local walks etc. We also ate breakfast, dinner and some lunches at the homestay everyday which were so delicious - Jubia is an amazing cook! We also took part in her cooking class on our last evening which is one of our favourite memories of our entire India trip. It was so special to be in the family kitchen and eat dinner with them afterwards. Jubia, her husband and two sons are some of the kindest people we have ever met - they were so warm, helpful and generous with their time. We loved spending time with her sons playing Uno, watching their magic tricks and learning more about them both. We were so sad to leave the homestay as I doubt we will ever find another place like this - but we will be back! Thank you so much, Jubia and family.
