Rochas Shared Apart Garden Refuge

Un hôte très accueillant, un appartement confortable et une végétation fabuleuse, ça vaut le coup ! Accès à tous les équipements, on se sent vraiment bien.

L’appartement est un peu excentré dans les hauteurs de Funchal, 40 minutes du centre à pieds, ça se fait mais c’est en pente.

Les hôtes avec qui nous partageons l'appartement sont très sympathiques et accueillants. L'appartemment est très joli pour les amateurs de plantes !

We had a great stay at this apartment in Funchal. The space was very clean, cozy, and well-equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay — including laundry facilities, which were especially handy after hiking. The room was spacious and tidy, and the garden was beautifully maintained, perfect for enjoying breakfast outside. Luis, the host, is also a tourist guide, which was a big plus — he was super helpful with tips and suggestions. The apartment isn’t in the city centre, so having a car is definitely necessary, but that turned out to be a good thing: it’s peaceful and quiet, with free parking at “The King Apartment” just nearby, where we always found a spot. There are bakeries and shops close by, and the location is very convenient for reaching hiking trails and Formosa beach. All in all, highly recommended — we truly enjoyed our time here and have nothing negative to point out!

The room with private bathroom is part of a larger apartment and is separated from the rest of the apartment by a special door. The kitchen is shared. The apartment is on the ground floor of a newer building, spacious, furnished in a modern way and at the same time with a sense of preserving the island's heritage. And a balcony and a courtyard! Wow, a real tropical park in miniature, the owner Louis takes care of it himself and is very proud of it. Louis is friendly and helps every day with some good advice about the weather or which natural beauty to visit ... He is very knowledgeable. When we arrived, he arranged a transfer from the airport for us and connected us with a local rent a car that delivered the car to our location. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. At night, there is always some free parking available on the street, even the blue zone is not expensive. Opposite the apartment there is a bakery, pizzeria, a little further a grocery store, fruit shop, pharmacy, pastry shop, barbecue... My wife and I were very satisfied with the hospitality and service and we recommend this apartment to all couples visiting Madeira on their own.

Great host, great place! The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary stuff. Luis is very nice and helpful person!

- Shower takes time to get hot water, not easy its setup.
