Mambo & Jambo Homestay

Lovely room near the lake and walking distance to the centre of town. I had a lovely stay in a secure neighbourhood. I would definitely stay again Mambo Jambo House in Mwanza.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place, not clean, staff not welcoming

Beds were comfortable, location was great, like 3 minutes by foot to reach the lake. Staff was super friendly, helped me organize transportation

Shower didn't really get warm, which wasn't too bad since it was very hot outside.

The hostel is in a quite area, app. 30 min walking from the center. The rooms are clean and it’s a great value for 10€/ double room (without bathroom) . They also have a kitchen for self-sufficient travelers. WiFi is also working well in the common area.

Every bed comes with a mosquito net. The two dorms are in a small building next to the main building. You have to walk through one of them in order to go out. Also there is only one shower for 2 dorms and at least another double room. During the time I was there, the boy being in charge, did not speak any English at all, so communication about anything was difficult. After a trip I directly talked to the owner, whether I could make a reservation on the double room again. When I came back my bag was in a different double room. In the end they wanted to charge me way more for staying in a double room + bathroom. It would have been nice to be informed or better asked whether I want to stay in a more expensive room. No fan in the rooms.

The staff is very friendly and they have a dog family with 5 puppies!

This Guesthouse has a living room, which is perfect to get in touch with everybody who’s staying there. I got to know Katherine the host, her friends and other guests. We spent a lot of time together, they showed me around and I’m really happy that they took good care of me like last born! Thanks Katherine for this great weekend
