Munroe Meadows

We had a fantastic stay at Ajith and Anjana's peaceful home. The room was extremely spacious and comfortable - our best over the past 2 months in India. They were very welcoming and answered all our questions.

Where do we start. This has been a fantastic find in a beautiful location. Our hosts have been fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. Excellent suggestions for things to do and helpful to arrange things. Great food and extremely accommodating with my wife food allergies. Highly recommended!!

Everything was perfect.

I loved everything about this place... in particular, the owners Anjana and Ajit, and their two young children. The homestay is in a quiet area yet close to activities such as canoe and kayaking. They have bicycles available to use without extra charge. There is space in the property to relax outside and enjoy a slow pace. The room itself was above the main home. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable. I had working fan, AC and hot water. Drinking water was also available for free, which is sustainable.

Everything. The accommodation is beautiful, the location is beautiful , the host family are warm, generous, super helpful. Home cooked breakfast and dinner very tasty. Purified water provided . Rooms are enormous. They organised a simply wonderful dawn backwaters trip that exceeded all expectations and the onward taxi. Fantastic value...do stay here for authentic backwaters Village experience.

I had a wonderful time here, the location is so peaceful, very clean and comfortable. The family hosting is so nice and always here to help while needed. The food was also very good. I really recommend and would definitely come back if I’m again around!

Our hosts made our stay on Munroe Island so relaxing. They booked a beautiful sunrise boat trip and provided bicycles to cycle around the island. Spacious bedroom with outdoor seating area. Very tasty food for breakfast and dinner. Lovely conversations with the hosts. Highly recommend for a homestay in Munroe Island

Munroe Meadows Homestay was truly a gem in the location, hosted by Anjana and Ajith. Room was very clean, spacious, well equipped and beds were comfortable. The terrace in front of the room was cool and shaded from the sun, a great hangout spot for us to have our own coffee in the morning and do our travel planning. Filtered water was provided and refillable from their kitchen, and we really appreciated this to reduce plastic waste and being eco-friendly. Breakfast was free and delicious (included in the room price) which consists of local style breakfast and choice of tea / coffee, which we thought was great. In fact, all other services provided were very fairly priced. We booked the 2-hour sunrise boat tour with them, which was 1,000 rupees per boat and can be shared with other guests (if you wish to). We also used their laundry service at 200 rupees per load, which was the cheapest we had in our 2 months of travelling in India. Service was impeccable, they checked in with us regularly whether everything was alright, offered cleaning service, fresh towels and sheets, and answered queries that we had. One of us had a minor health issue and had to see a doctor, our hosts recommended a specialist whom they know and helped us book a return tuk-tuk trip at a good price. As we had to extend our stay at the homestay, we ate almost daily here and had the opportunity to experience more of Anjana’s cooking for dinner, ranging from fish fry, prawn fry, chicken curry, vegetable curry, beans with coconut, Kerala beef curry etc, depending on what is fresh and available. We appreciate her changing the main dishes daily since we stayed longer. Same goes for the local breakfast, it can be appam, idli, dosa etc with coconut chutney and curry. We were surprised by a recent comment about food portion as we were full with the food that were provided each time.
