Sen - Rose Ella

The best homestay in Ella, with the best view. Clean, affordable and the best breakfast, truly delicious. It is only 5 minutes walk to Ella down the track and a quick tuktuk drive for under 2 dollars. I loved this perfect hotel, with everything you need, tea and coffee making facilities and a good hot shower and stable wifi. The family who run it are very special and take care of your every need. Transport, whatever you need. Best hotel in Ella with the best breakfast!

Nothing, it's an amazing place!

The room as well as the attached bathroom are very spacious. The private terrace in front of the room is basically an extension of the room and has fabulous views. The family running the place was lovely and the Sri Lankan breakfast excellent. The walk into town along the train tracks was quick. Would come back anytime.

Super friendly and welcoming staff made us feel like home. We had a variety of local breakfast specialities on the huge private terrace with a wonderful view. The train track is only 10 meters away, but that didn’t bother us. Ok, first train at 6:30 wakes you up. If we ever come back to Ella we’ll come back to Sen Rose

What a beautiful find, we loved our stay so much we extended to stay a whole week! Close enough to Ella town only 10mins walk, but far enough away from the noise and to get incredible views. The room was clean, cool, comfortable and had everything you need. The balcony was huge and had the most stunning views of the waterfall and Ella rock. Every morning we received a tasty varied breakfast, looking out at the view. Our host Dilhani was so kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Had all the information we needed. Honestly I couldn’t recommend this place enough, our favourite place so far in Sri Lanka!

Plumbing issues in the bathroom. There was a continuous flow of waste water from the washing basin and/ or the toilet onto to the bathroom floor which drained out via the shower trap. This issue was raised with the daughter on the night of our check-in ie. 23rd August when we were advised that this was normal and nothing could be done about it. On the morning of the 24th August we took a decision to reduce our stay from two nights to one night and Sen-Rose Ella was advised of our decision at 9.00am which allowed them ample time to cancel our 2nd nights booking. We were charged the full bill for two nights of accommodation which we find difficult to justify.

Amazing homestay with the best host! We were welcomed with some coffee and sweets and got an amazing breakfast every morning. The host was very sweet, giving us tips and always up for a chat. Besides that, the room itself is great and waking up with the view of the waterfall was amazing. Great location, only 10 minutes walking via the train tracks (safer than the road) to the centre of Ella and already on the way to Ella Rock.

Delicious and plentiful breakfasts with stunning views of the waterfall. The host was lovely and welcoming offering us tea, fruit and cake on arrival. They had also decorated our room for our honeymoon! The location was great - only a short walk along the tracks into town.

The WiFi wasn’t very strong and was not reliable. You could not get much mobile phone signal to access data.

The host proceeded a generous breakfast daily. She also facilitated free pick up from the train station due to the current road condition not being g suitable for our driver/van. The rooms were very clean and tidy. The upstairs balcony was perfect for watching trains and storms and admiring the waterfall. The walk I took town was on the train track which may not suit everyone but the alternative was a serious hill climb or tuktuk ride.
