Pelangi Homestay Bungalow Gili gede

Very cute little bungalow, well located and you can hear the ocean from bed 😍 Lovely, attentive host who spoke very good English and accommodated gluten free breakfast options. The BEST breakfast with so many delicious options and all free! Also super tasty ice coffee.

The bathroom smelt after the shower was used but the positives far outweighed this one flaw

We spent 3 nights at Pelangi Homestay Bungalow. It was a truly memorable experience. We went snorkeling with the husband and their little boy on their traditional boat and ate our best Gado Gado in the restaurant. Highly recommended! Will come again for sure.

I had the pleasure of staying at Pelangi Homestay with a friend and we were blown away by the experience. The owners are incredibly welcoming and lovely, and Zuria, in particular, is an absolute delight. She is sweet, friendly, and cooks the most delicious food! We were lucky enough to go on two snorkeling trips during our stay, one of which was with Zuria's dad who is just as kind as his daughter. We also had the opportunity to explore the islands of Gili Nanggu and Kedis with Anton, a very nice man who showed us around and engaged us in interesting conversations. The homestay itself is impeccably clean and the atmosphere is fantastic. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the islands. We cannot recommend Pelangi Homestay enough! Nothing that we had to leave

Location was beautiful. Breakfast and food was delicious. The hosts were beautiful people.

Situated just in front of the sea on the lovely island of Gili Gede, Pelangi Homestay is a perfect match to feel like a local. The rooms are quite basic but have everything you need. Anton and his family are really welcoming, I really enjoyed the long conversations with him and his wife. Also, a tasty breakfast is included and the family run a small restaurant so if you are hungry you can have a delicious taste of Indonesian cuisine!

Nights are quite hot, with no air conditioning (only fan provided) windows need to stay open and mosquitoes enter in the room. Mosquito nets on the windows would be a good solution, at the moment there is only one on the top of the bed but it’s quite suffocating.

If you are looking for basic accommodation at a reasonable price, in a beautiful location, with delicious food and fabulous hosts, then Pelangi Homestay is the perfect place on Gili Gede. We spent 5 nights in a little bungalow, set back from the sea. The room had a comfortable bed, mosquito net, cold water shower, table & chairs outside and a hammock to relax in. Pelangi is run by Zuria and Anton, who have 4 bungalows to rent. Anton arranges fishing and snorkelling trips with his boat, and will also collect you or take you to your next destination for a reasonable price. A kayak can be hired to explore along the coastline. Their transport costs to towns across Lombok are reasonable. Both speak very good English and I received prompt replies to my queries . Nothing is too much trouble for them and they will endeavour to solve any problems you may have. Please Note - No ATM on Gili Gede, so bring CASH I must mention the food, Zuria is an excellent cook. Her warung/restaurant on the waters edge serves delicious, freshly home cooked food. We even met some fellow travellers who were staying at an expensive resort, 20 minutes away, who would walk here, each day, just for some authentic Indonesian food. The BBQ fish cooked on coconut shells, was delicious. If you are looking for luxury accommodation with AC, hot water and flush toilet, then book an expensive resort - but you will pay much more, and will miss out on experiencing what real island life is all about. Take a walk in the morning and you will see the local fishermen preparing their Tongkol tuna fish for sale. Walk along the paths through the local villages and stop to chat with the children. Walk past the mangroves to discover deserted beaches, then come back for fabulous home cooked Indonesian food, served overlooking the sea. We were sad to leave, but felt our time on Gili Gede had allowed us to have an experience as well as a holiday.

The family is very nice and welcoming. Also the island itself is beautiful and quiet.
