Nethmi Homestay

This lovely homestay is situated in beautiful tropical gardens. My hosts were the nicest and kindest hosts I can ever remember having. The husband and wife looked after me like I was a family friend. The breakfast and dinner they served me was incredible, but it was the thoughtful glass of juice and biscuits or cup of tea which was the icing on the cake. They organised a safari for me at a very reasonable price, and one morning my host took me in his tuktuk to climb the rock. I felt so safe with them and can't wait to return and stay with them again one day. It is a very hot area so I recommend you upgrade to the air conditioned room.

Let me start by saying the family is really kind and helpful. The father and the son were always available to bring me wherever I needed to go, even when I changed my plans last minute. With their own tuktuk it felt like I had 2 personal drivers. The mother did my laundry for me and prepared the meals. The room is spacious, the beds are good, there are mosquito nets and the airconditioning is working perfectly.

The family really tries it best but their English isn't really good. So many times they didn't understand my questions and remarks, and they just always said yes. For basic things their English is ok. The bed is nice but I didn't like the pillow, it was really thick. So I ended up using one of the decorative cushions. There is a hot shower, but the water pressure is close to to non existing and the shower head only gives 3 streams of water because all the holes are clogged. For the cold water shower, more water is leaking at the wall and the upside of the shower head than were it's supposed to come from.

A very comfortable and clean room, lovely hosts, tasty breakfasts and dinners, delicious juices and a welcoming atmosphere The host took us by tuk tuk to the main sights (Dambulla caves and Pidurangala rock) and lesser known sites (a local sunset spot which was a highlight for us and a lake where we could swim and enjoy the view of Lion’s Rock). All good value and well organised!

Very simple but clean rooms. The hosts were very, very nice and helpful. Very good breakfast. But the best thing for us was the location and the surroundings. A beautiful garden, very lovingly laid out. It felt like being in the jungle. Absolutely top value for money.

What a place! We loved it there! Beautiful house with a super friendly and kind family. They helped us extend our stay even they were fully booked. The owner rent us his scooter and we made a nice trip to Polonnaruwa. Breakfast was delicious! Thank you for letting us stay.

Incredibly nice host family. The facilities are perfectly clean and the garden is perfect to relax and lean back. Very peaceful and comfortable stay with optimal value-for -money ratio.
