"Perfection."

The location is wonderful. A warm welcome, a comfortable room with ensuite, & all our needs catered for- we couldn't have asked for anything more.

There were no negatives.

"Decent budget option in a tiny village with limited choices"

7.0

I needed to be at the village hall the next day and this was just a short stroll away in this tiny village. The bed was soft and comfy, and the things provided for breakfast were numerous and of decent quality with good attention to detail. The en-suite was a decent size and everything you could need was there. The room is in the house where the owners live but you don't need to go past them to get to it, and the room itself locks and you get the key so it felt pretty secure. There was step-free access, if that's important to you, too. I'm putting this in the section about what I liked as it's unfair to criticise the property for something about the village but I want to put it somewhere: I'm no expert on the village itself but there seemed to be 2 places to eat, the pub and a new cafe. The pub needed to be booked in advance that day and I hadn't and the cafe was shut when I arrived. Luckily I had brought something to reheat in the room's microwave which was fine but I'd have preferred a decent meal.

It was handy having a fridge and a microwave in the room. However, it isn't a kitchen (nor claimed to be of course) and it wasn't the latest silent-running fridge design, but it wasn't so noisy it stopped me from sleeping. Remember to close the curtains before showering as the pavement is right next to your ground-floor window and you wouldn't want to come out of the bathroom and remember that too late.

"Tris was there if you needed him, a family home which did not intrude on our staying there. Wonderful power shower, comf"

Friendly, helpful. You could come and go as you please. Independent , if there was anything you needed they would get it for you. Great little oasis on our holiday.

Fully catered for independent stay. Close to great beach and a short stroll to excellent cafe and pub.

"A great stay in The Machars"

10.0

It was perfect for a single traveller. The room was a good size, immaculately prepared, and very comfortable. The shower was simple and effective. There was a variety of breakfast cereals and drinks. The bed was very comfortable. Triss, the host, was friendly and welcoming. The location on the sea front was perfect. It's a small village with no shop as such, but an excellent cafe and a Good Beer Guide pub - two handpumps selling Scottish beers ( Jarl and a house beer brewed by Belhaven while I was there). The sunrise and sunset during my stay were stunning. I came home feeling physically and mentally refreshed, having enjoyed my stay in The Machars

I liked everything.

No complaints at all, the bed was comfortable, check in was easy. Shower really great. All breakfast items, like bread, butter, jams, cereal, milk, orange juice are in the room which has a table and chairs and a fridge. Street parking was no hassle.
