MENAKA HOMESTAY

EVERYTHING - Manu and his wife Shishi and the house dogs were the best! we felt at home, Manu went fishing and cooked us fresh crabs, shrimps, fish more than we can eat at a very fair price. he also went fishing in the next morning again and cooked us fresh lobsters in the morning free of charge because he didnt have lobsters the night before. he is just too kind and giving. we played card games all night as a family:) rooms are clean and beds are comfy. also hot shower! dont leave this place without eating the seafood!

It is located close to the beach but also quiet. The staff is nice and supportive. The breakfast is simple but nice.

The windows were open when I arrived with no mosquito nets in front of them. As a result I had a lot of mosquitos inside the room. The room itself was in not very condition. There were cobwebs on the wall, the floor was cracking and the faucet was leaking.

The best homestay in Sri Lanka! Great breakfast, great dinner with lobsters, crabs, fish in a fair price! Lovely people! Highly recommended!!! ❤️

Nothing to dislike

Excellent host. Close to bus station. Clean, safe, quiet and comfortable. Highly recommend !

We have just left after a two night stay, and what can I say? The accommodation was spotlessly clean, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in during our time in Sri Lanka. The shower had good pressure with plenty of hot water, and the air con worked well. What really set this homestay apart was the wonderful hospitality from the hosts Manu and Sashi. From the moment we walked through the door, we were treated like family rather than tourists. We were welcomed with fresh mango juice, and Sashi kindly gave us a handwritten list of local attractions with distances and travel times. We had a delicious breakfast and, after a busy day sightseeing, were welcomed back with a fresh king coconut juice. Manu and Sashi exceeded our expectations as hosts.

I am a woman traveling alone, so to feel safe and at home is such a gift. These two were so warm and welcoming. It was without a doubt the best experience i had during the past 3 weeks. The room was perfect, as well as the location and the breakfast. I just really wish I could have stayed longer, but no doubt I will be back, even if it is only to see them again❤️

I only regret I could not stay longer. Thanks a million you two amazing humans!

Simple and basic. Walking distance from the bus station. After making our reservation, we received via email a very useful map on how to get to the accommodation. Nice family, friendly and hospitable. Delicious coconut welcome drink. Aircon worked well. Simple and filling breakfast. Mini fridge in the room. The wifi signal was strong but slow on our first day, we were told it would improve the following day because it would be first of the month when the internet package is renewed and it was indeed much better on our second day. We went out on the fishing trip (5am start!) and the crew were lovely people. We caught many fish and it was fun. The fish was later cooked for dinner (included in the price).

Great home stay in Tangalle. The hosts were really friendly genuine people. The room was basic but had everything we needed - AC / wifi / mini fridge. The outdoor area is really nice & there are some little breakout areas with sofas / table & chairs to chill outside of the room. Can hire scooter from here which we’d recommend to get to the beaches as the beach nearby is more of a fisherman’s beach, the other end is best for spending the day
