MENAKA HOMESTAY

Hosts were wonderful! He arranged a tuk-tuk to take us to Rekawa to watch the sea turtles nesting. The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good, and dinner, both nights, was delicious and plentiful!! (Trevelly fish and shrimp; barracuda, lobster, and octopus).The room is older, but still very clean and comfortable.

Very friendly owners couple. Owner capable of arranging turtle watching trips, tuktuk rides, etc. Able to provide truly excellent dinner with fresh seafood caught by himself earlier that day (unlike many other places claiming the same). Accommodation has a brilliant location, just a few minutes walk from bus station. Perhaps a bit spartan, but does the job, ideal for those traveling on shoestring. Excellent value!

I liked the owners of the house. They are kind, good-hearted people. The breakfast was enough to start the day and since the family often go fishing they make amazing fish dinners.

Amazing host, so caring. He helped us a lot. Nice clean rooms, close to the beach, close to the bus station and city centre. There were kichen to use, there are games to rent for a beach. Really recommend this place!

Manu the host was an absolute legend. So kind and generous with his time and recommendations. He helped us hire a scooter (from his friend next door) and places to go. He also offered for us to learn how to cook Sri lankan food with him and his wife. Beautiful people. Room had A/C and a fan, a mosquito net, it was clean, comfortable and it was definitely value for money. Breakfast was also fantastic. Made fresh everyday. 100% Recommended

There was the slightest smell of mould/humidity in the room but we easily managed it by airing out the room during our stay.

The homestay itself is a nice place, with a realy nice common area. You are close to the sea, restaurants and town. The best part are the lovely people running the place. Their goal is to for you to have a lovely stay and their good at it 😀 It is also highly recommended to have dinner, you will eat the catch of the day and it is cooked lovely

When we arrived at Menaka homestay, we were very warmly welcomed by Manu, his wife and his dad with a fresh coconut. The bed is very comfortable and open at the end which is very good for tall people (2m). The air conditioning is absolutely perfect and it is very comfortable. The bathroom and breakfast is also fully ok and what was really great that you can completely darken the room if you want. You have a sitting area with sofa, armchairs and table right in front of the room. There are also games (Uno, Monopoly...) but also volleyball or beach tennis you can use for free of course. You will be taken care of with everything you need. Manu and his family are very welcoming and open. For living Manu and his dad go fishing everyday. If you want to join you can do it. The dinner (fish, crabs, sometimes lobster, calamari ...) that they catch and prepare themselves is great! For two people it cost 15€, which is absolutely not much for the amount of food you get. It was incredibly delicious (did it 2 times out of 3 nights). The location is also very good as it is very central in Tangalle. it is not far to the beach or town. Together we went to a local market, that was very nice because we got local prices because Manu was there. He showed us a lot of things we could bring home (tea, spices...) and also when they cooked we were always allowed to watch and they explained it to us. If you want to feel at home, we can only recommend this homestay! And next time we come to Sri Lanka we will definitely come back!

Super nice hosts. Shashi is also a very good cook and gave me a cookingclass 🥰
