Minh Quang homestay

Very welcoming, food fantastic and amazing views

One of the many homestays around. Rooms basic but comfortable, not isolated at all, so warm clothing is needed in the winter. The common area is comfortable, they even have a big speaker (for karaoke). Food was very good, they prepared vegetarian dinner for me, which was huge and delicious, for 100k. They also organized a motorbike taxi, bicycle and a bus for me. Family is very cute, and one of them even speaks English very well! They provide drinking water and tea in the evening, to keep you warm.

I guess because of the season, the place was rather dead and I was by myself. Boat is way too expensive if you do it alone. They charged me for renting a bicycle with broken breaks, which they didn’t tell me in advance, it seemed like they just give it to me because I didn’t have other means of transportation.

This homestay is run by a fantastic family who made us feel very welcome and comfortable. To make it even better, it is in a fantastic location. When we arrived, the bridge was out, and they came to meet us and helped us with our luggage, which was greatly appreciated. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The balcony had excellent views of the rice fields, mountains, jungle, and lake.. There is a communal area upstairs, and the view from there is even better. In the evenings the family cook fresh food which we ate on a table with other guests. The food was delicious, and it was a great way to meet other travellers and hear about their adventures and experiences in Vietnam and beyond. The homestay also offers breakfast. The homestay owns their own boat and kayak. We went on the 5-hour boat tour, which was lovely, and enjoyed kayaking out to the island. It is also possible to go fishing with the owner if there isn't a boat tour on the same day. We enjoyed a 10 mile hike through the jungle, which we booked through the homestay, one of the best walks we have done in Vietnam, but you must have some experience of trekking. We enjoyed waking straight out from the homestay along the road, which went around the lake. Two miles from the homestay, you'll find another village, and I enjoyed some pho here on two occasions. Beautiful view from the shared communal space. Very sweet family. They made a fantastic meal my First night but it was too much food for just me so the second night I asked for some simple noodles and they were also delicious. There aren’t any other restaurants close that I saw. Arranged for a bus to Hanoi to pick me up there.

Not the home stays fault but I rented a kayak from them which was kinda pricey and like often in Vietnam it didn’t have a back and was big and so it was uncomfortable and I couldn’t find anywhere to “park” it when I paddled to the bigger village. Would skip that activity and rent a bike or do Some hiking instead
