The house of Fendy and his family is very comfortable. Therefore the best in it is Fendy. He is truly amazing. He organised a personal trip for us regarding our expectations and he could not have done it better. Do not hesitate to trust him, he is honest and got so many knowledge to share that you will not be disappointed! We will be back in Java to keep the adventures with him!

Fendy was an excellent snorkeling guide. His recommendation to visit Bangsring Underwater World is one the best experience I had beside visiting the Ijen Crater.

Very cheap and located at centre of the town

The room is small, and it was very hot during our stay. They provided the fan but it was still very hot for us, we can’t sleep during the night

Fendy and his family were really friendly and they help us wherever they could. The tours with fendy were a little but pricier but really worth it. Especially the snorkeling was really cool! Fendy showed us many other things and he explains a lot and you can ask him about anything.

The room was really hot and there is no ac. Also there were no hooks to hang stuff. The homestay is not right at the mainroad and you have to walk about 15min to get there.

You won't find a better value for money. The homestay is just a perfect place to spend a night or two for your trip to Ijen or around Banyuwangi. Affordable food options in the area, owners are very nice and eager to help with anything. They also organize a tour to the volcano combined with a visit to plantations and waterfall which we enjoyed very much . Definitely recommend!

We loved our time here! We arrived at 5am and were able to check in early, which was amazing! We did the Ijen Tour and a day of snorkelling with the host. This was for a very good price and we enjoyed ourselves! The host family were so friendly and accommodating. We were able to book our transport to Bali here as well. Thank you for the help!

The room can get hot during the day but you are provided with a fan.

I usually don’t write any reviews, but for backpackers couples like us, I’ll write this. We stayed for 2 months in Indonesia. Sometime we booked guest houses named “homestay”, but only this place was the true homestay. There are 3 rooms for guests in the same house with the family(young couple and one beautiful boy). We will share one toilet and bathroom with them. -this house is located in the middle of a quiet residential area. It’s so relaxing. -the house is clean and organized. -there are nice sofa and chairs so we could communicate with other guests naturally. -it’s too far to the convenience stores, but there are some nice local grocery stores and laundry within 1 minutes by walk. -we can cook in the clean kitchen. -we can hit the local beach for 30 minutes by foot. The way to there, we can see beautiful rice fields. We enjoyed tasty noodles in front of the beach with locals. -we usually don’t join any day tours, but here, the host is a experienced tour guide. He has professional knowledges about wild animals. So finally we joined the day tours for Snorkeling and climbing to Mt. Ijen. The price of tours are not cheap for us, but it’s worth it. We really enjoyed with other guests and the host.

-little bit far from the ferry port. From the ferry port in front of Ketapang station, it will take for 30 minutes by taxi. We paid 60,000 IDR to the driver. -Too hot and humidity without Air Conditioning -there is no water server.

Strong wifi, plenty of comfortable communal seating, cooking facilities, a fridge to keep water cold, perfect place to do Ijen, we met some lovely fellow travellers, very interesting to live with an authentic Javanese family for a few days. Most importantly, the host (Fendy) and his family. His wife didn’t speak much English but was always smiling and polite to us. His 12 year old son was charming and spoke pretty good English. And Fendy himself is an amazing human being. He speaks fantastic English and he goes out of his way for his guests. He organised our Ijen tour for a very reasonable fee and even drove us there himself, about an hours drive. On the way back, he stopped three times to show us some really interesting things, such as coffee plants, rubber trees and huge but harmless wood spiders. He is incredibly passionate about nature, wildlife and conservation, and had we more time in Banyuwangi we would have loved to go snorkelling with him or do the turtle experience that he offered us. The other reviews speak very highly of them. At the end of our stay, Fendy drove us to the harbour so we could get the ferry back to Bali. Keep being you Fendy! Please be aware that you will be a guest in Fendy’s home, sharing the bathroom and communal areas with his family and other guests. This type of accommodation might not be for everyone. The house is 10-15 mins drive away from the city centre and the train station but we found Grab and Gojek taxis very easily and they were very cheap. There are plenty of warungs and shops within walking distance of the home though. The room was quite small for the two of us, though we did have the smaller of the three guest rooms. Quite warm without AC but you are provided a fan. A couple of hooks for hanging clothes and towels, and perhaps slightly less see-through curtains for more privacy would be our only suggestions for improvements.
