Wasantha is an excellent host. We had such a beautiful home stay experience with his family. His wife Chitra cooked us a beautiful Srilanka meal for dinner. The salad was amazing so was the chicken curry. We felt like our family was looking after us.

The location is not easy to find but Wasantha was great at communicating on what’s app.

We had very bad luck entering Nuwara Eliya but we were extremely lucky that we booked in Woods Hut! Owned by a lovely family and they made our stay unforgettable and we wish we could stay longer! An amazing fresh cooked breakfast was prepared for us! Each member of this beautiful family shows their love to their guests in their unique kind way and thank you so much for this amazing experience of hospitality 🙏

Everything is good👐

We had a wonderful stay at Wood’s Hut thanks to Chitra, Wasantha and Rashi. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and even had fresh flowers. We had everything we needed and more. The food was healthy and so delicious. Wasantha organized a great tour of the tea plantations for us on short notice. And then the next day took us on a full day hike which was truly an adventure! We had such a great time and learned a lot about the local area. Can 100% recommend staying at Woods Hut!

We felt like at home with this host family. Their hospitality and care was amazing, they helped us with everything. They also offer food that we can only recommend. The room was also perfectly clean and spacious. If you are thinking of having a nice stay in Nuwara Eliya, book this place!

This is a homestay, there is only one room for rent so you can feel like you are at home. The family is very helpful, nice and friendly. Breakfast was good: jam, butter, bread, coffee, tea, omelette, and toasts.

Could be cleaned up better

Chithra and her family were very very welcoming and full of love, Rashi their son made us a welcome and thank you card with our picture on it - was very sweet. The dad helped with our luggage on the walk to the house. Chithra made us amazing food and really cared about us. This is a real homestay - you stay in the room of the parents, to get into the room you have to pass in the kitchen which has a thin aluminum door into the room. You hear and smell everything in the room. Although Chithra was very thoughtful when i said my husband is vegetarian- she said she will not cook chicken for the 2 days we’re there. For me - it was awkward being in their house, although they made it very welcoming. The room is old and simple, does need a makeover to make it more appealing- that’s why I said it’s a real homestay. Big bed, loads of blankets and a heater as it gets very cold at night. Good hot water in a very simple washroom. Location - far from town in a very steep road to get there, that’s why we eat Chithra amazing amazing food for dinner and didn’t go out. For me it was the hosts that made my stay, less the place it self.

Had the most amazing stay at woods hut with the lovely family of Wasanthra and Chithra at their home. The room was spacious and had everything you need, coupled with an unbelievable view on the balcony. They helped organise my plans for the duration, with breakfast & dinner if you needed! I would recommend staying here to anyone during your stay in Nuwara Eliya, you will have the best time!

Put aside a few of your western standards and you will have a magnificent time at Woods hut with hosts Wasantha and Chithra; and of course Rashi, their son. They are really helpful in organising trips, predicting the weather (which is very useful in this sometimes cloudy/rainy area) and Chitra makes you a perfect dinner! Or if you like, you can go to the cafe, a 5 min walk, where you can play some pool and join a jam session.

The first time it’s a little hard to find, but if you follow Wasantha’s directions and call him a few minutes before you arrive he will be waiting for you.
