Jilan Homestay

The woman who manage the homestay is sympatical and she makes good breakfast. Unfortunaly all the personnal there is not so efficient, especialy the tuk tuk driver who doesn’t respect his words and then does bad job, I couldn’t go to river safari cause of him.

To make little savings they intentionaly switch off wifi on the eve of check out .. On the pictures mosquito nets seem good but it’s impossible to close them, even worse there are several holes on these nets, and sure they are some hungry mosquitos there. Don’t forget a strong repellant.

Location was great Breakfast is good for Sri Lanka. The room was okay I didn’t expect much for what I paid.

No hot water The owner was too intrusive and was making pressure to leave only good review. Even called and texted in what’s app. Crazy I would like to have more privacy.

Very friendly family. The mother makes the breakfast and she does a wonderful job. The daughter and son both speak good english. The room was very nice as well. I loved the garden and had a pleasant time eating breakfast there.

The son (owner?) is too focused on making money (and getting a high Booking rating). I didn't mind so much that he arranged my activities but it did feel a bit forced. He also didn't give me much choice on where to eat dinner the first night. If he could give the guests a bit more freedom then this place would be perfect. I still recommend it to everyone though!

we had a nice stay of 3 nights at this guesthouse. the room was clean and our concerns we're promptly corrected. they also offered a river trip in mangroves and we saw many reptiles and birds. the mom showed us around their garden it's beautiful. breakfast always had at least 3 types of fruits (mango banana watermelon papaya pinneaple and even passionfruit). even let me do some laundry and hang it outside.

One if the best breakfasts I’ve ever had from a booking.com stay. With fresh fruit from trees in the garden. Quiet location but very close to railway station, beach and town . And excellent price .

The wet room had a blocked drain so water from the shower stayed on the floor. As the room was just being refurbished it’s just a teething problem and didn’t affect my stay. I’m just glad I was offered a room that could easily have been left until fully renovated.

Great location, close to beach, railway station and restaurants. Helpful host, tasteful breakfast.
