Alex Home Stay

Lovely stay with an excellent balcony. Clean room and good kitchen. Also, the host is lovely.

I almost never give a 10/10 but now I do! I loved staying at Alex Home Stay and recommend going there. Malka is a wonderful host that made me feel very welcome. She advised me on things to do and transportation, was easy to reach on WhatsApp and made me the best vegan breakfast ♥️ On the last day she even packed left over fruit from breakfast for me to take on the train. The room is clean, I loved having a shower with shower doors, the view from the balcony is really good, the airconditioning worked perfectly and the bed is comfortabel. There is a small kitchen if you want to prepare your own food, you can make your own tea and she has a very good water filter unit so you can tap drinking water. It's a 5 minute walk to Keells supermarket, where you can catch a bus to center for 40 LKR. You can also walk to town in 30 or 40 minutes. I did that one day and loved the walk. You can also take a tuktuk. It's approximately 250 LKR from center and 300 from Alex Home Stay to the Railway Station.

Only thing is the first night I had some trouble sleeping because of dogs barking. They don't bark all night, it woke me up twice. Second night it didn't wake me.

I've stayed in some lovely guesthouses during my holiday in Sri Lanka, but I think this pips the others. The room is surprisingly good for the price - large, comfortable, clean, bright, with good ac and a lovely hillside view from the private balcony. There's even a guest kitchen. And Gerard and Malka are wonderful hosts who made me very welcome. The meals (breakfasts and dinners) were delicious. Would certainly stay here again if I return to Kandy.

Extremely nice, friendly and helpful hosts, that went out of their way to make sure we're happy. The room is perfect: looks like new and includes everything you may need. In addition, there's a full kitchen in the corridor. The room has a very nice balcony overlooking a beautiful view. Location is very quiet, being 5min walking distance (serious downhill) from a supermarket and the main road.

I wish we could have stayed longer...

Malka and Alex are wonderful people. They have a beautiful, extremely clean and comfortable home. We felt like staying with friends! Location is perfect, just a little TukTuk Cruise away from the loud and hectic city with an amazing view from the balcony. We felt more than welcome and would definitely come again if we visit Kandy again. Breakfast prepared for us by Malka was the perfect start into the day. Malka also helped us to figure out the local bus system which is overwhelming for foreigners. After she took a lot of time to explain everything to us, we handled it like pros. All of that at a more than fair price. Thank you so much!

AMAZING stay, the hostess Malka really welcomed us really well, her place has great view to mountains and she helped us a lot for our trip with great advices and information. the breakfast is also great !!

Our stay with Malka and Alex has been one of the nicest of our stays in Sri Lanka. We felt warmly welcomed and had an excellent and huge breakfast. The rooms were very comfortable with lovely views and we appreciated having our own kitchen where we could make tea or coffee or fill up on filtered water. We appreciated the insights into Sri Lanka and the non-pushy advice. Alex is a tour guide with a company called 'Soul of Lanka Tours'. We felt this could have been promoted more as we didn't learn about it until late in our stay and the tours look great.

The location is about LKR500 or 600 from town by tuktuk so factor this into your stay.

The hosts are such a nice family and made our stay in Kandy incredible! The rooms are clean, and have a beautiful view of the city. It’s very nice to stay a little bit outside of the chaos and high up in the nature! We loved our stay, the breakfast was amazing and they really make you feel at home! We will come back for sure!!

The host is great. Makes you feel like you are at home, and the breakfast is home made and great. Best curry I tried in Sri Lanka.

Maybe it is a little bit retired from the city but this should not be a problem as Pickme is cheap or if you have your own tuktuk
