4ty two Homestay Galle

Check in was easy and fast. Owner and other staff were friendly. Breakfast for an extra 1300 rupees was not bad at all. Close to the railway station and 15 to 20min on foot to Galle fort depending on your pace. Good value for money and quiet area at night. The AC and fan work fine. Even though the neighbourhood feels a bit sketchy at night, I had no issues and always felt safe.

Not that many restaurants nearby. It's right next to a canal which means lots of mosquitoes. Unfortunately they don't have a mosquito net in the room, so they ate me alive every single night. Wifi was a bit slow at times. Also, I had a detached bathroom downstairs, which meant going up and down every time I needed to use it and that's a bit inconvenient.

Great location, close to the bus station, bul also historic centre. Room was big enough, comfortable bed, tiny balcony big enough to dry clothes. Breakfast was delicious and the owner and the family were super nice. There is also shared space where you can hang out, including nice balcony.

The bathroom was separate from the room. Which was totally okay (as we had the budget room), you can lock it, as it's just for you, but would be nice to have it in the room description so you won't be suprised. :)

The homestay is conveniently located at about 15-20 minutes from the Galle fort, railway station and the busstand. The owner was very helpful with everything; he guided us well about the local transport and sightseeing. Mirissa beach is about an hour's distance by bus and Hikkedua is about 35-40 minutes away. Unawatuna, on the other hand is just about 5 kms away from the hotel. The room was clean and spacious enough for two people. You can borrow cutlery from their kitchen. AC and wifi worked very well. The owner even accomodated as for another day on a last minute notification. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. I'd recommend it to all travellers in Galle.

The mattresses could have been a little better. Also, most charging points had square -pinned slots; it would help if they had round-pinned ones too.

We had a very satisfying stay. Wijendra and his family are sweet and hospitable people. The place is authentic, quiet, and clean, located in a peaceful neighborhood close to everything. Highly recommended!

Room was spacious and staff was friendly

Toilet had an issue where comed flush tank was broken in one of our rooms. AC remote was missing in one of the rooms. Bathroom was smelly in one of the rooms.

Kind hosts! We had a large room with our own bathroom and there is also a shared area between the rooms with some couches and a balcony. The fort is only a 15 min walk, which was fine. In the dark we did however prefer a tuktuk back.

The location is a beautiful house in an authentic neighborhood close the city center, fort and bus/train stations. The host is very hospitable and friendly with lots of useful advice.

Part of the room door is from milky glass, so need to hang some clothes there for privacy
