Canal House - Homestay

Robin was very nice during the whole séjour and his place is very nice situated next to the canal. I took the single room. It's not huge but i think it's fair for the price and I came for a festival so I didn't spend a lot of time in the room. The bed was very comfortable and there was a fan for light cooling. The shower was also nice and soap and towel were provided. It's shared though so you might have to wait for your turn but that's about it.

Overall a good experience, owner is very friendly n a great host. My room was small n needs to walk up 2 flight of stairs wit a shared WC. Bringing up luggage can be trying for ladies or the elderly, although Robin will help out if he's around. Nice backyard facing a canal.

It was clean quiet and modern and the bed was ultra comfortable. Everybody was considerate with each other and the host was very friendly.

Nothing

The host was very welcoming. On the day I arrived, I accidentally put in the wrong adress on Google maps and ended up on the other side of the city. It was already late so the host picked me up. The house is lovely, the shower is also very nice. The location was perfect for me - it is just at the border of the old town and the walk to he train station takes around 25 minutes. Just two minutes away is a nive grocery store and some lovely restaurants. If you walk a bit further into the old town - there is a lot to choose from regarding where to eat or drink.

You have to take into account that you are living in somebody else's home while they also live there. If that is ok with you, then I can highly recommend it.

Robins place is situated between a quiet road and a picturesque gracht. The atmosphere is light and makes you feel very relaxed and comfortable. Robin provides you with any information you could wish for since he knows his town by heart. We were lucky that he had time to take us on an amazing boat trip through Alkmaar’s grachten. Robin is a fine host definitely worth to be acquainted to! Thank you Robin🙏!
