Song Mao Homestay

Very friendly staff, the location was great to get you to the national park and explore the trails in Alishan. The beds were very comfortable and there were lots of restuarants and convenience stores only 10 minute walk away. It's a nice place to return to after a day of walking.

The hotel was a bit run down but it wasn't dirty so it was fine. The shower wouldn't heat up one day but we made do.

The view from the room is the selling point and the location being 45 mins drive from alishan.

The hotel is a bit dark and dated. We arrived at 14:15 but were not allowed to check-in until 15:00 on the dot. The hotel takes cash only. There was no food options available at the hotel but there is take aways near by. This is a hotel to sleep only, no other facilities other than a room.

We happened to bumped to a 6.4 magnitude earthquake and it was scary. Thankfully the structure and the location is great. Love the bed and linings. It is warmer than the hotels up there on the mountain considering there is no heater

We came on check in time and no one was there. It took us about 1 hour to understand what do to and to call the owner which told us to get a key from the counter and pay at checkout. Although asked to pay only at checkout, a day before the owner knocked on our door non-stop while talking a shower, it was so rude!!! After few hours he came back and shouting at us to open. After we opened we understood he wanted to collect the payment one day before the checkout. We never had such rude behavior although he seemed to be very nice person. From time to time there was bad smell coming from the sewerage system of the bath.

You can hear clearly the moaning and groaning next door. Like all the others say, the walls are not sound proof. But we slept throughout like a baby cause too tired. No receptionist or staff when we arrived. We checked in ourself. There is a signboard to call receptionist and we did. Told us over the phone to take our keys and go to our room ourselves. No fridge in room.

Just the view

The sound travels. All the sound from the other room could be heard. One couldn’t rest properly. It was annoying. There were cockroaches on the night desk, the bathroom had mold, and to make things worse, guests would buy stinky tofu and take it in for everybody to smell!
