Leah's Homestay in Hoquiam

The breakfast was nice, Leah and her dog Lady were very nice. On street parking was fine. Had a nice conversation with another couple at breakfast who were also staying there. Good value for the money.

The house is very nice, clean, and beautifully maintained. The host is polite and even makes delicious homemade yogurt for breakfast, which was a lovely touch. The property is also extremely dog-friendly — a perfect stay if you’re traveling with a pet. That said, there are quite a few house rules (like keeping bathroom doors open, not placing items on certain surfaces, etc.) that made me a bit anxious, especially with kids who might forget. Also there is no privacy since its a shared home. Since this is also the host’s private home, we found ourselves waking up early when breakfast was being prepared for us before 7 AM. Sharing a space with the host felt a bit like visiting a distant relative — polite but not entirely relaxed — so while we appreciated the experience, it wasn’t the right fit for our family and we likely wouldn’t book a shared stay again. Still, if you’re looking for a very clean, peaceful, and pet-friendly place, this home has a lot to offer.

Once you understand you are staying in a person's house, and that there are rules in that house (rightfully so), then you will find the experience to be very positive. Leah takes her role very seriously and truly wants you to be comfortable. Leah learned of our plans and on her own, helped us to plan a safe route due to wildfires along our route. She must've spent about an hour doing this to help us. I was stunned with her consideration and concern. Since we had to leave before breakfast, she prepared a to-go breakfast for us. How sweet! The beds were very comfortable and the house is very clean.

This is NOT a complaint, just an understanding you need to have when staying here. This was our first homestay, so an attitude adjustment on our part was necessary. In a hotel you can completely make yourself comfortable. Since this is a person's house, you don't have that luxury to the fullest extent. It is always important to be considerate and respectful in a hotel but even more so in a residence versus a hotel. If a suitcase accidentally hits a wall in a hotel: meh, whatever. If you accidentally scuff a wall in a person's house, you feel bad and that an apology is in order. That's the difference between a hotel and this homestay.

It was a pleasure to stay there. Leah is a lovely person and so helpful and accommodating.

We had a lovely stay with Leah and Lady, her home was beautiful and she was so kind and accommodating. This will be a lovely memory for us as a stop on our trip. The bed was so comfy and the house was so clean!
