Silent oasis

Incredible host and beautiful location. All the food was absolutely great , and so much of it! Ten minutes drive to Ella town but nice and quiet in the evening. 10/10 Can even walk to Ella rock from the property.

Nothing, it was great .

Beautiful location in the hills of Ella, surrounded by nature and away from the hectic main town. You'll see so much wildlife...giant squirrels, monkeys, peacocks and deer. Takes about 15 minutes to get to Ella main town by scooter. Really friendly hosts and a fantastic breakfast. They even grow coffee right there on the estate and serve it with breakfast, Amila was kind enough to give me a small bag of the coffee to take with me. Would stay again for sure.

It was a quiet location with a nice view of the gardens

It was very over priced for the basic level of accommodation provided. The bathroom was old and dirty and the bed wasn't comfortable. It needed a good clean. They also arranged their friend to take us in a tuk tuk into town and he overcharged us as well.

Staying at Silent Oasis was one of the real highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. The room is wonderful, clean, comfortable and sat in the middle of the forest high up in the hills of Ella. There was a mosquito net over the bed. Great wifi. Ensuite shower room. Note that there are a number of steps to reach the room and in the dark you will need a torch. Outside the room there is a shared balcony area with chairs and table for breakfast. And boy oh boy is the breakfast good - locally sourced and home-made too. And of course you get to eat it in the forest watching all the wonderful wildlife and listening to the exotic bird calls. On our first evening our host arranged for us to eat the most amazing home-cooked rice and curry. Other nights we took a tuktuk ride into Ella to dine at one of the many bars / restaurants in town. Amila and his wonderful family are a delight. You will not meet friendlier, kinder, helpful people. He went above and beyond to help us organise and arrange trips and travel & just make our trip as wonderful as it could be. I send big thanks for a great stay. We long to return. Needless to say I thoroughly recommend Silent Oasis :)

I didn't like that I had to leave!

Amila and his family are the most wonderful hosts. The property is set in a stunning location just outside Ella. It is spotlessly clean and comfortable with great wifi. there is a great deck to sit and watch the many monkeys and other wildlife. breakfast alone would justify the price elsewhere. i was able to rent his scooter for the few days and this is the best way to see the surrounding areas and access the many hiking trails. he was also able to secure me a seat in the 1st class train to Kandy.

Everything, particularly the breakfast and the staff !

The name suits the place perfectly! The house is located in the mountains, surrounded by nature with birds singing and peacocks walking around, creating the perfect oasis for a peaceful, calm and memorable stay. The room is spacious, clean, has great views on the nature, and the bed was the most comfortable and cozy we’ve had in Sri Lanka. The breakfast, served on the balcony, was delicious and extremely generous, including many different items. A great way to start the day! What made our stay the best one in our whole trip was the family: kind, sweet, devoted. They will happily help and take care of you in anything you might need, going above and beyond your needs and expectations. They have the kindest and purest souls, and we felt at home.

Very pleasant host, organised transport from Ella railway station. You are surrounded by beautiful nature, it's amazing to have a good breakfast while you watching birds, mini squirrels, giant one too :-)) etc.. convenient contact through WhatsApp, host helpful all the time. Cleanness 10 out of 10 - important! I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. Location 10 out of 10. Breakfast 8 out of 10 (I don't like to be watched when I am eating) I can not give generally 10/10 because the room is very simple, does not have wardrobe, to compare to other places I had very hot breakfast and coffee and more variety however it was good. It was hairdryer provided, and kettle. Hot water in the shower with a good presure.

It was a little bit of mould visible in the bathroom especially, but you could tell it was maintained from time to time, I guess it's a common problem in Sri Lanka. Cut off electricity when I was having a shower during evening- scary darkness but it's not a host problem, it happens all over Sri Lanka quite often.

Amila and his family go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are spacious and clean with really comfortable beds. The food is plentiful, homecooked and delicious. It's a family run business and everyone helps out with tuk tuk or car transfers to wherever you need to go at reasonable prices. The property is about a 10 minute drive out of Ella in the mountains and hence is very tranquil and quiet. Above all, Amila is extremely kind, and he helped me with trying to fix my mobile phone during our stay. He also arranged for something we'd left behind to be sent to Colombo. Overall a gem of a place to stay if you're planning to stay in Ella.
