Restful River Bungalow

The place stands for its name. I slept well, it was quiet, comfortable and the room was big. I really enjoyed the town and staying there!

Everything was above board

Lovely family run hotel that overlooks the peaceful Son river. The view is awesome. It's away from the busy town center, but not very far. There is a nice restaurant "Pi and Gao Quan" nearby proposing some typical local food and excellent bubble teas.

We absolutely loved our time here, it was the perfect location for us and the hosts were brilliant from start to finish. As such I'll put up a video on our YT channel 66tripsleft within the next month, this will have lots of footage. I was a little concerned about the location being a bit too far out from the town but it was fine, with a few little stores and restaurants within walking distance, although we liked eating at the hotel, by the pool, with a view of the river. This felt like a real homestay, it's run by a family who are always available and it's got such a lovely vibe because of this, with enquiries/drinks dealt with by Hung, meals cooked by his wife, reasonable rates for everything (food, drink, laundry). There's a couple of cycles you can borrow for free. Hung organised a scooter for us for which we paid him (150k dong/day), it was delivered to us and picked up after we left, all perfect. This enabled us to visit Paradise Cave and Dark Cave for a total 1.4million dong (£46), whereas with a tour you will be paying over 1.2 million for each person, per trip, plus having to do it all at the same time as every over tour. It meant we could arrive at Paradise Cave at 11:30 just as every coach was leaving, we had the place almost to ourselves. I've already suggested Phong Nha to a view people and I've recommend the Restful River too, for a brilliant trip.

I don't really have anything negative but as others had said the only issue was the combination of westerner used to soft beds and standard firm Vietnamese (SE Asian) mattresses. If you're coming to Vietnam and spending this sort of money on a hotel then that's what you're going to get everywhere, so come prepared like we did and bring a hiker's small self-inflating airbed, works a treat!

The housekeeper is very welcoming and arranging.

Lovely location on the riverside. Great size and clean swimming pool. You can swim in river or use kayaks (after 5pm when there are less boats). Quickly organized free bikes and also good quality scooters for good price. 10 minutes on bike to the main street.

Beds were very hard, we have had much better beds in other vietnamese places. Also the bedlinnen could have been cleaner. The family is helpful but not as welcoming as we experienced in other places. Als food options very limited.

I have visited Phong Nha many times previously and usually stay closer to the town centre. I was travelling with some friends and decided to try this hotel. What a great place, beautiful big çlean rooms, lovely pool by the river and the food was excellent. The owner drove us into town for dinner and picked us up after we had too many beers late at night. Overall the 2 nights here were fantastic and would definitely recommend.

A little noisy not from the peaceful surroundings, but from other guests. That's the only negative.

Hung and his wife were very nice and kind. we arrived at 3am and he came to collect us off the bus and allowed us to check in early so we could get some sleep. the rooms and bathroom are massive and really nice and clean. the hotel is right on the river so was beautiful. it’s about a 30 min walk into the main town but along the way there are little shops and places to eat. he provides free bicycles which we used. I’d stay here again
