Damsen Homestay Ella

Damsen is great value for money.

The old grandparent hosts treat you like family. Our favourite people from the entire Sri Lanka trip. They make you huge amounts of tea(for free) and cook you local meals priced very reasonably. They are ready to help you with anything. The location is a bit away from the main road but that's part of the charm. Surrounded by trees and greenery.

The pick me tuk tuks don't come here as it's too steep. The hosts son has a Tuk Tuk though and they will call him for you.

We had a really nice stay at Damsen Homestay. Nice big beds, beautiful gardens with plenty of birdsong and only a 3 min walk into Ella town. Ariuapala and his wife are beautiful hosts, attentive and want to ensure you've got all the information you need to go exploring, always able to arrange a son to Tuk Tuk you where you need to get to and quicker than my Nan to get a pot of tea in front of you!

Lovely host and quite place with very good location and its walking distance to reach most places in Ella.

Breakfast could have had some more vitamins and protein.

Owner is a very good person. He managed everything from making food to arranging the rooms and other facilities

It is very old and could be maintained better

The place was located close to the center of the city, there was actually a secret pathway to get there even faster. It was close to a small forest. Our room was comfortable and really big, more than the average room in the country. There was also hot water. The host was very friendly.

It was not the most clean hotel that we’ve been in. Yet, we didn’t spot any insects but the floor was quite dirty. The breakfast was not adequate at all, and I felt like the utensils were also a bit dirty. It was definitely not enough for 5 people, but when we asked for another small jar of jam the host gave as an already opened container. He did not speak really good English, but at least he was trying to be helpful.

Really nice homestay!! Great location! It’s downtown Ella but away from the main road in the nature so it’s quiet and peaceful! 3 min walking to the main road by the shortcut.The garden and patio are beautiful. Breakfast is really good and big! The owner and his wife are so welcoming and generous, always ready to help and making sure we have everything we need. I recommend this homestay!

A large room with great views of the river. The dinner and breakfast were fabulous. The hosts are friendly and very helpful. A wonderful respite from the city. Thank you for a great stay.
