Ella Travel Rest Inn

Great location, just a few minutes' walk from the main road, yet very quiet, the homestay is surrounded by nature. It has a nice open-air patio on the top floor, where the host serves a very good breakfast each morning. There are 2 relaxing chairs there too, facing the garden and the trees. The bathroom is spacious, with plenty of hot water. The owner also provides an electric kettle in the room and bottled water for the day of arrival. He also provides an adaptor. The owners are very friendly and happy to help you with anything you need.

The room is too dark. Although it comes with a balcony, the greens are so close that it darkens the room and brings many mosquitoes. There is a mosquito net around the bed, with big holes and dead bugs in it. The bed was a bit hard for my liking. No closet, as in most accommodations, but hooks. We asked the owner for clothes hangers and got a few. No chairs to sit on in the room, 2 hard wooden chairs on the patio. No top sheet. Instead, we got a blanket of which we always wonder if they've been washed. We are used to some ants in bathromms, but there were so many here of different sizes that it was disgusting. You had to watch where you put your feet down. Just like so many accommodations, the lack of cleanliness and hygiene is deeply disturbing. It takes no time to fix a mosquito net and to clean it. It is also easy to spray a room against ants on a daily basis if necessary. Cheap is no excuse for a lack of care and general maintenance.

The owners are beautiful, they’re so kind. It has what you need, private room, with bathroom, fan, big bed, and wifi.

For a small budget B&B with only 2 rooms for rent, it was a nice room with a fan and solid WiFi. And the breakfast was good for the price. Great location to downtown Ella. best part was the extremely nice and HELPFUL owner who lined up a tuk tuk for the train at 9 Arches Bridge (I didn’t like the tuk tuk driver, but no blame on owner). And the Toyota Prius + nice young driver that he found at a great rate to drive me to Udawalawe was fantastic! The best car & driver I had during my 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. thank you, sir!

no A/C, bathroom wasn’t good and had plumbing leaks. not a good property for solo travelers… I was the only traveler there, so it was a bit lonely.

Very nice place and the host is a very welcoming person, making all to make you feel at home. Good location near the center.
