Mulu Tribal Homestay

Very good location, basically at the entrance of the park. It was very very basic - a room with a mattress on the floor and a toilet and cold shower in a separate building out back. This was fine for the first two (of three) nights, as all we really needed was a place to store our stuff, clean ourselves, and to sleep in between park visits and this adequately did the trick. We managed fine with the short electricity hours (6pm-12am) by making sure my power bank charged during this time, which allowed us to keep everything recharged during the day. The amazing location made it very easy to run back from the park in between activities if we wanted to grab something, which came in handy multiple times.

The first two nights (i had booked three nights) were fine since we were just there to sleep and were otherwise in the park all day every day. On the third night, however, without enough time before our flight to do anything in the park that we hadn’t already done, we wanted to spend our final morning relaxing and repacking our stuff. With no electricity/fan and pretty stifling heat during the day we realised Mulu Homestay would not be a great place to just chill. So we packed up at 6pm and made our way to the resort up the road, where we splurged for our final night.

Everything. No hot water,no toilet paper,no lock on the front door,just a piece of string. Shower didn't work. On power from 6 pm to midnight. No mosquito nets, hot noisy dump I paid for two nights but left after one. I felt robbed

The location of Mulu Homestay is unbeatable. Only 50 meters away from the National Park entrance. We were there for one night before we did the pinnacles tour.

The walls and floors are thin and the house was shaking when people moved inside of the homestay.
