Kandy Inn Madugalle’s family guest house

We loved our stay at Madugalle's family guest Inn. We were welcomed very warmly in the beautiful house with a cup of tea and a chat with the Lady of the house, who was extremely kind and very helpful. We could listen in on one of the granddaughter's classical sri lankan singing lessons and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. This house made us feel very welcome in Kandy!

Lovely honestly with knowledgeable and helpful host! She helped us arrange visits during our stay. Close to centre of town.

This was by far the worst place I stayed during my time in Sri Lanka. The room was extremely dirty and full of mosquitoes. The woman who owns the place warned us not to go outside in the evening because it was "dangerous”, in reality she doesn’t give you the key of the apartment and we had to ring the bell and wait for her to come. The overall atmosphere was uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I cannot recommend this place to anyone and strongly advise you to look elsewhere.

Great place it is a classical Kandyan house with lots of history. It is like a museum. And the rooms are very good. The house is full of plants, which is great. And the location is superb! Close to everything.

I liked everything.

Kandy Inn Madugalle's family guest house is in the City Center of Kandy. Behind a inconspicuous small door on a big street you can find a small, quiet, Green oasis with a lot of plants. The owners are a really warm, lovely couple and made us feel comfortable. We got some tea, when arriving. Also a little cat is Living at their guesthouse which is really cute. The rooms are simpel, but clean. The location was great so that we could walk to tooth temple and local market. We only stayed one night but enjoyed Our stay! Thank you very much!

Room is very simpel and moscitonets had a view holes in it.

Kumari and her staff were very welcoming. Kumari welcomed us with tea and biscuits, and shared about the area/her family's interesting history. She also organized a full day tour and transfer to sigiriya for us which went smoothly. Rooms were clean and well equipped. Garden and home beautiful.

Only issue is the lack of AC but this is advertised.

Excellent location - within walking distance of the lake, temple and cultural centre. Kumari and all the staff were friendly, helpful and informative. This feels like a very authentic Sri Lankan home and is a haven from the hustle and bustle right outside the front door.

Some reviews mention the road and rail noise. You are right in the middle of a busy city and, yes, this can be noisy but, after 10pm at night, this quietened down and we slept well.

Our stay was perfect, exactly what we wanted from a Sri Lankan family home stay - thank you!

Very very nice, comforting and helpful owner and a historic building with so many unusual memorabilia from the last 200 years. I can only recommand to stay a night there!
