Kandy Inn Madugalle’s family guest house

Staying in this place makes you understand what it means to be in a Sri Lanka guest house, surrounded by kind people who fulfil the whole experience. The house teleports you into a timeless place, excellent to chill and rest from the noise of the city. It has an incredible view. It has an excellent location and is at a walkig distance of many landmarks. Very good internet and hot water is a great plus! [There is a lovely cat living there]

It's a charming old house with relatively basic, but clean and comfortable accommodation. Madam is a welcoming host who sat with us and chatted over breakfast. None of the positive reviews mention the train line behind the house and indeed, on our first morning I was woken at 5am by a train going past (6am the next morning). I can't say it bothered me and it didn't wake my wife. Some negative reviews say there are better value places for the same price. I can assure you that's not our experience in Kandy. Believe the positive reviews and add the morning train and you'll have a good idea of the place.

The area outside of the room is nice. Wifi in a common area is good.

I don't understand why this place has such good reviews. First of all, it is very noisy there, not only because of the passing trains but also the guests from the room next door. You can hear everything in the room. The biggest problem is that you can't leave the house and enter it without asking the owner to open the door. Because you only get a key to your own room. The smell in the room was not pleasant.

Kumari is the most gorgeous host, she takes special care of every visitor and is so knowledgeable about Kandy and local sights. We are keen to return. Her house is a haven and oasis behind the brilliant chaos and noise of the city.

A key to the front door to come and go as you please. But it’s not a big issue

The sweet family waited for us and we felt their kindness during our stay. We had some appointments in Kandy city, and we are busy. But I should have taken more time to communicate with them.

Hot water was not available in the shower room. But other guest houses in Sri Lanka were also, it may be Sri Lankan normal?

Super friendly and welcoming host! We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the place for staying in a quiet and comfortable homestay in Kandy.

It's a beautiful family house, Kumari allowed us to attend the blessings happening in the house and treated us with delicious dinner. Overall a great experience
